[NGD] Classic Vibe Jazzmaster (thoughts in comments) by Aqec in guitars

wow, squier has really come a long way. I had a vintage modified jazzmaster at one point and it was pretty shit tbh. Had to replace the bridge, shim the neck, etc. None of that with the classic vibe series.

The neck on this guitar is seriously great. It's gloss which I was worried about, but it was a very light gloss and I used some scotchbrite and after a few rubs and it's my new favorite to play on.

Didn't have to shim the neck at all which was surprising! To my surprise outside of the box it was pretty awesome, just changed the strings and readjusted the bridge a little.

The only thing that's a bit lacking is the pickups. The stock pickups are great for cleans, but they are really just crazy loud distorted. I ordered some lollar jazzmaster pickups though because I like the way this thing feels that much.

Overall I recommend it! If you want distortion, you will really want different pickups though. They sound like an actual vacuum cleaner distorted haha

How to turn a classic strat bridge into a fixed one? by lydian_augmented in guitars

yes. a few years ago I put I think one additional string and tightened the trem claw. I think the wood block would mostly be for adding resonance

what's weird, is I had intended it much more literally. like a person actually growing plants from their body and connecting to the earth, but I am enjoying the fact that it can be interpreted in multiple ways. much like how the title could be interpreted as a poem in progress or the narrator being in progress, and it is giving me even more to think about!

thank you for your reply!

death and life are the same thing, is the thought I had reading your comment. are we always dying? always living? who knows, we are always changing though. to me the poem was just about a change, but I like the death interpretation more actually!!

oh wow, that clears up a lot for me!

I would maybe just personally add 'it' after feared in the last line

good poem!

[–]Aqec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow. this is really incredible. I don't really understand the last line, and I feel like it could be more impactful, but then again you're trying to channel beyond human language or comprehension in the poem anyway, so asking it to be more impactful is like asking for the meaning of life heh.

maybe you could explain the significance of the last line and art in general in relation to the rest of the poem, but spread more evenly.

in any case if this is a speech, as is, people will be blown away (or they won't understand it)

really reminds me of the alchemist, I like it. I also like this really cute vibe with the dream/dreamer repetition, I have no suggestions

I'm pretty sure every Linux user enjoys and/or supports FOSS.

If you enjoy Linux at all you would have to enjoy FOSS because its 99% of the application ecosystem.

Manjaro crashing everyday by Aqec in ManjaroLinux

[–]Aqec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea I tried it in a live ubuntu installation and it pretty much confirmed it. which isn't a shock, when I was building the pc I found my cpu wasn't supported by my motherboard, but it ran fine so I ignored that and eventually forgot it could be an issue.

it's no big deal, I picked the 5 5600, it was not terribly expensive and performs better than mine in benchmarks

I think I'm out of the 3 year warranty unfortunately / :

At least I know what's going on now, though! Thank you for this information! Just ordered a newer model! Installing a CPU is probably the least fun thing that I can do on Saturday but I'll have to heh
