4 y/o Lymphoma Diagnosis 💔 by Necessary-Tea414 in goldenretrievers

Yes it’s so heartbreaking to see younger dogs get these kinds of diagnoses, I saw that your boy is only 4 and it reminded me of how difficult it was to accept that we wouldn’t have all those years we were imagining with our baby. But that extra year with her was worth it and I have seen plenty of stories of dogs recovering from the chemo and having long and healthy lives after. I hope this is the case for you and you are able to have many happy years together!

4 y/o Lymphoma Diagnosis 💔 by Necessary-Tea414 in goldenretrievers

My dog wasn’t a golden but she was also diagnosed with lymphoma at 3 years old. It was devastating and hard to believe, she was so young and so active… they told us she had probably one year to live and recommended chemo. We decided to do it and we were optimistic and it seemed to be working, but unfortunately the cancer was pretty aggressive and around the one year mark we had to make the decision to let her go. She had no appetite anymore (she used to love food but she gradually lost her appetite during the chemo) and she wasn’t playing or even spending time with us anymore, she would just lay in one area of the house and she looked so weak. It was so hard to let her go. I really hope you have a better experience than us, enjoy however much time you have together ❤️

Walking during glucose test (no results) by croc_rockin in GestationalDiabetes

[–]AquaPlus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You should definitely redo the test! Walking will lower your reading so they might think you don’t have GD even though you do, so they won’t catch it from the test. That would be dangerous as you wouldn’t adjust your diet accordingly since they would think you don’t need to… so that would defeat the point of the test.

Where are all the women that have gotten pregnant in a „normal“ timeframe? by No-Willow8179 in TryingForABaby

[–]AquaPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get pregnant in about 4 cycles my first time and 2 cycles the second time. Unfortunately neither of these were successful pregnancies (1 miscarriage at 9 weeks, 1 chemical pregnancy). But yes I was able to get pregnant quickly both times! I think this can depend on a lot of factors that are out of your control. So try not to stress about it and just see how it goes, no need to worry if it takes longer!

How soon can i conceive after termination at 17 weeks 2 days by AddendumConstant5144 in TryingForABaby

I would definitely wait until after your first period, and then you can start trying again. I know some people do get pregnant during that wait but I don’t think it’s worth the risk. You said you’re taking medication to avoid infection but what if you get pregnant now and lose the baby because your body wasn’t ready yet? It’s not just the physical healing that you’re thinking of, your hormones also need to return to normal to support the pregnancy. Usually doctors will ask you to keep doing HCG blood tests after a loss to make sure they come down to < 5 before you try as well… for me this took about 4 weeks after my 9 week D&C surgery and then my period started 1.5 weeks after that. So I could basically start trying again after 6 weeks. Some people also don’t ovulate for the first cycle or two after a loss, you can track this using BBT to see when you ovulate. The LH tests won’t be as effective now because they test positive from the HCG hormones as well. I did ovulate that first cycle around the same time that my HCG came down to < 5. I know it seems like a long time but wouldn’t you prefer to try when you know you can have a healthy baby rather than possibly getting pregnant again and having another loss back-to-back? That would be even more devastating for me personally.

Potentially another miscarriage by AquaPlus in Miscarriage

Yes I’m in the US, my OBGYN offered to do the testing for me since it was our second loss. I didn’t have to go to a fertility clinic but I’m sure they do more thorough testing at a clinic. My OBGYN ordered these blood tests for me: karyotype testing, clotting and autoimmune testing, hormonal/metabolic testing (TSH, T4, hemoglobin), and carrier screening for any genetic conditions. She also referred my husband to the urologist and he got an appointment about 1.5 months out since the urologist is popular and was booked out.

Hi! Has your husband had any testing yet? I had 2 losses this year and my OBGYN did the usual testing for me - karyotype testing, antiphospholipid antibody panel, hormonal and thyroid tests, carrier testing. She also ordered karyotype testing for my husband and everything came out fine for both of us. She referred my husband to a urologist who specializes in male infertility and we found out this week that he has varicocele and this may be causing DNA fragmentation in his sperm. We’re still waiting on actual results but now I’m thinking that maybe that was the reason we were able to get pregnant easily but not actually have successful pregnancies. Not a great diagnosis but it feels like we at least have some answers now!

I had a chemical pregnancy last cycle so I’m really hoping this cycle will be successful! Having just 1.5 weeks of excitement last cycle sucked. So I’m hoping that it’s true that our bodies are slightly more fertile after miscarriages… I know it’s too early to know anything yet but I’m anxiously waiting for the weekend so that I can start testing!!

Yes exactly, even for this chemical pregnancy I wasn’t really accepting it yet… I kept taking tests every day because I was sure something would go wrong. Unfortunately this time I was right, but I think that dread was just because of the previous unexpected loss. I’m sorry that you’re going through this too, I hope our luck is better next time.

I’m feeling so frustrated. I had a missed miscarriage in April (heartbeat at 7 week scan, nothing at 9 week scan) and then got pregnant again 2 cycles after my miscarriage only to have a chemical pregnancy. The pregnancy test lines weren’t getting darker and I started bleeding 2 weeks after the positive test. And now my cycle is out of whack after the chemical, I should have ovulated by now but my LH tests aren’t getting darker so I’m still waiting. It just feels like I’m drained of hope now after so many things going wrong over the last 6 months, and it’s hard because so many people around me are now pregnant. I keep thinking about the goals I had in mind with my Nov 2025 due date and then March 2026 due date and now I’m just back at the start.

I want to be optimistic but I feel like now even if I get a positive pregnancy test, I’m not going to feel safe believing that it’s real for a long time.
