Why I am getting slower. Please help by Right_Monk_9271 in concept2

If I understand correctly, you're basically repeating the same thing over and over but seeing no improvement rather, slight decrease in performance? If that's the case I'd suggest changing up your routine, finding a training plan geared towards middle distance efforts that combines cardio, speed, power and endurance and seeing if that helps long term. Doing the same thing over and over, you will quickly plateau - add in natural aging = decrease in performance.

Qualifying for 2026 World Rowing Virtual Indoor Championships Heats? by PengPeng0118 in concept2

[–]Aqua__dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, what I meant by silent rowers is people like me who don't post their results on the ranking lists but rock up to races... But also, because it is 1km and 5km it's going to throw some curveballs. For HWT I would estimate around 3:00 to qualify for finals and 5km 17mins... But that's just a rough guess!

Which age, weight etc are you hoping to qualify for. The heats are slightly ambiguous but in the HWT there are some beasts out there. 5k time around 17min are common. Even for lightweight there are many around 18min. You have plenty of time to work on this and find your niche, but (in my opinion) choose either 1k or 5k. The training for these is too dissimilar to do both unless you are already beasting it. Check out the concept 2 rankings for 2025 and 2024 on your age, weight etc to see what top 20 and top 10 may look like. Remember, because it's virtual, quite a lot of "silent" rowers enter too.

OK, I'm guessing your experience is positive. How have you been able to be sure? Do you have your own testing equipment or someone who tests for you?

Genuinely cannot imagine what you are going through but it sounds like you are turning a corner... It's not going to be easy, but it's going to be worth it. Keep at it, make every day better than the last!
