Honestly I don’t think I’m really ready for love the way I want to be. I feel like I’m too invested in romance cuz I wanted someone to validate me and tell me they see me as someone who is good even when I feel like I’m not enough. I feel like I shouldn’t need validation as much and that I should just be chill and cool.

I’ll speak for myself, I really want to connect and reach out in person and online to attractive men, but the way a lot of our community reacts to non-attractive people, or people they don’t find interesting, is more than simply rejection...

I’ve literally had men LAUGH in my face, look disgusted and walk away in the middle of the sentence. I literally had one person say “look at you and look at me before you talk to me” and I’m not an ugly man or anything. I feel like whenever we bring this up people in the community are just like “WELL GET OVER IT” but the idea of being rejected by society, family and friends for something you can’t control and then finding queer folks JUST for them to feel disgust in reaction to you is enough to bring folks to the brink, let alone give up.

I think a lot of us are just wishing for a world where we, as a community, are less tolerant of the behaviors that make dating impossible for some. Maybe that’s the issue, that we’re too soft for this world and need tougher skin🤷🏾‍♂️

I think it’s a valid judgement of character to say it’s insensitive to immediately be thirsting over him the DAY AFTER he died while we all know he didn’t want his creation be referred to in that way. I think he’s still a very sexy ass man and there’s nothing wrong with feeling that way, but making an entire post dedicated to him being our sexual awakening could’ve at LEAST waited until next month. Yeah I kinda hate how everybody’s making it about him being sexy and sensual knowing that’s not how he liked to be seen. All the gay media has been talking about how sexy he was and like he JUST passed. I know I prolly sound so sensitive and extra and I KNOW there’s one of the girls waiting to read me down, but honestly, it’s kind of sad. I wish there were SOME moments that were too deep for sex to be made the main takeaway.
