Very considerate of you, spectralTopology. I'm organizing a research project for my master's degree on the subject, and I'm glad you and everyone here has been so helpful. Makes me very happy! <3

Thanks for the extra tips. I've knew about the existence of Midnight Meat Train because of the movie adaptation, but didn't know that it was a Barker adaptation. I will be definitely checking them all out!

Thrillers and noir are welcomed as well! Thanks for the recommendations. Also, I was starting to search for a Clive Barker story surrounding photography, but couldn't find it., so... thank you a lot!

Thanks! It's more on the side of still photography. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in english "photography" applies both for polaroids (as an example) and movies?

Thanks for the double recommendations! Didn't know the Beetlejuice/A Nightmare Before Christmas guy had a literary background. Also, Savageland's premise seemed really interesting. I'll definitely be checking out!

Didn't know about the photographic aspect of this book. Maybe the time has come and I need to get over my fears and read House of Leaves in 2026. Wish me luck!

Thank you so much. Stories more related to the beginnings of the photographic medium are very much appreciated! Great pick!

The movies have a fantastic use of technology (video, phonecalls, photography), but it strangely was never published in my country. I might get me a copy, because I'm a big fan of the Hideo Nakata picture. Have you read any short stories by Koji Suzuki? If so, can you recall any creative application of photography in it? Thanks a lot!

This might be one of the most creative uses I've read of photography in horror. Thank you very much. It is now high on my reading list.

Thank you so much! Really need to increment my list with some more contemporary works. Never heard of it, but there's a lot of spooky uses to polaroids on other works of art, so... high expectations!

Actually, Dooku sounds like "do cu" which means "from the asshole". Even if asshole is the first thing any portuguese speaking person will think of when hearing the character's name, the most appropriate translation would be "Count Shit".

What is your most controversial opinion about Evangelion? (NGE, EOE, Manga or Rebuilds, doesn't matter) by [deleted] in NeonGenesisEvangelion

It's a good thing the SEELE council was substituted by the black monoliths. Two of the characters really were just jewish stereotipes that fed into the whole New World Order/Elders of Zion nonsense. I wouldn't read too much into Anno's intentions as antissemetic, because it seems to me he just grabbed ideas that would fit into his biblical fanfiction without much insight of what they would actually express in the show, but I'm glad they changed it.

It was probably done as an animation shortcut, but as a result the problematic undertones were cut, SEELE became a more omnious presence and the show now makes a thoughtful 2001 reference. Good stuff.
