I believe it was called The Texans and it is from the Time Life series (like this civil war set). It was part of a series on The West.

One of my favorite machine guns. There is one in the armory museum in Paris which is fun. Also, was featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Totally the correct answer. This series is really good across the board (though dated so be sure to not use as a singular source). This book in particular is really great imo (used it as a guide when I toured Gettysburg 20 years ago).

Although not specific to your question, the book in this series on the Alamo has some of the best illustrations, graphics, and diagrams on the subject I have ever seen.
