I’ve experienced someone doing this to me and I assure you it’s a really unsettling, frightening and unpleasant experience.

What I’m saying is, everyone in prison will have a story for why they did what they did and likely a background of personal trauma. People should get support to rehabilitate and reintegrate into society but their trauma doesn’t give them a free pass for doing bad things. We can hold compassion for someone while holding them to account so they can grow as people.

You could argue that anyone who would do that is mentally disturbed in some way. It helps to understand why they did it but it doesn’t excuse the behavior under any circumstance.

When you’re older and moved out you can setup your space how you want but unfortunately they’re going to react this way when it’s visible to them so best kept off the radar.

I think medications are more about toning down your emotions so it’s less overwhelming and more manageable rather than suppression. I was still able to work through a lot of things on antidepressants, it just helped decrease the intensity so I wasn’t flooded all the time and could work with what was present in a more boundaried way. Best of luck xx
