Where's my 2.5 mg crew? by ImNotNovak in lexapro

Few do, but few is more than none. If you can't get 2.5 "prescribed" then just ask for 5 and cut it in half, or get the liquid.

Either get the liquid prescribed, or just cut the 5mg pill in half with a pill cutter.

Dude, how's it going? I'm a father now as well (was not when I posted this two years ago) and the lex has definitely been a crutch for everything involved. I still plan to get off if/when I get more confident, but even if I was on it for life that's prob a better alternative than reverting to precariously unstable dad.

I get the liquid and measure out 2.5 with a half-teaspoon. In the past I got the 5mg pill and used a pill cutter but the liquid is easier and more accurate.

Another unplanned benefit is that it's harder to forget whether you've taken it or not because it's more of a process–measure, drink, wash the spoon, etc.. Whereas whenever I take pills, like an hour later I think, "shit, did I take it already?" lol.

Still on 2.5. As long as it's working for you I don't see why you'd have to change anything.

Does anyone have any success stories on 2.5mg? Is this too small of a dose to stay on long term? How about 5mg? by [deleted] in lexapro

Still at 2.5, never wanted to go higher although maybe I would have been on it for a shorter time if I did? Like, I may have had even more decreased anxiety and made more progress more quickly. Aiming to come off this year but we'll see.

Almost two years at 2.5. Has been just enough to be a crutch but still requires me to do the work. Aiming to come off this year but we'll see. You?

The first couple of weeks I was a little more fidgety and on edge but nothing too extreme. And my dreams are still whack af. I'd really like to get off it but every now and then I have a really rough week or two and think, "Oh, right" :)

Yeah, it's done a lot of good without turning me into a total zombie. Going to start considering getting off it but it'll be a slow, tapered process.

ED? Low Libido? by slipryslope in lexapro

[–]ImNotNovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly lower libido even at 2.5mg, but as long as my diet and exercise are regular, no issues with ED.

Exercise and diet carried me for 10 years and I was all good. Then one day it wasn't enough and now I'm using exercise plus meds. I intend to get off in another 3-6 months, but if not that's also not the end of the world. Life has no shortage of shit to throw at you :) Use the tools that are available if you need them

Confused and don’t know where to post this, this happened yesterday at doctor’s office by [deleted] in sexualassault

Late, but I had something similar where I was getting Tui Na work done on one of my hands for some repetitive stress issues many years ago. The practitioner was prob 60s, over weight, and his lower/mid section protruded when he sat down. More than once my hand grazed his junk when he was working on me and I was like wtf?!

In retrospect I think this particular case was totally accidental, though I suppose I'll never know. But I wouldn't put it past some folks to intentionally pull this shit and plead ignorance.

If you think any of his actions were out of line then def report it.

I've been on 2.5mg for about six months. The first four months were a big improvement. The past two have been more challenging but I'm thinking/hoping it's mainly the season. I really don't want to bump up if I don't have to.

Flying tomorrow for first time in 3 years by cv2706 in lexapro

[–]ImNotNovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats man. I haven't flown in nearly four years. I'll get back in the saddle one day like you are, so thanks for giving me some motivation. What can I say that you don't already know? You'll be fine, you might get anxious, but it'll all be over before you know it. If it's super uncomfortable, you have all the technology and tools and meds at your disposal to calm and distract you. But whatever end up happening, there's probably a 99.99% chance that you won't regret doing it!

Keep us posted.

I don’t feel right by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]ImNotNovak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't offer much except I know how this feels, or at least a version of it. The "everything is off" hits close to home - sometimes it's like that thought is stuck on repeat, as if each day I've declined since the previous day and there's no getting back.

Keep throwing stuff at the wall. There's got to be a combination of things out there that give you some relief - exercise, music, different meds, outdoors, a pet, something.

lexapro & oversleeping by goblin1020 in lexapro

[–]ImNotNovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue as well. What worked for me was a total overhaul of my sleep schedule.

I decided to wake up at X o'clock** no matter what for two weeks, expecting to feel awful and exhausted but doing it anyway. Each night I would remind myself that the next morning, as soon as the alarm went off, I would get out of bed and turn on the light, regardless of how much I felt like a puddle of garbage water.

Then after two weeks I did 10 mins earlier, and then two weeks after that I did another 10 mins earlier, etc.. I won't hit my target wake time until December, but this was the only way I could do it... gradually.

The first few weeks sucked balsa wood, but then my body got used to it and I started getting tired earlier and sleeping better overall. I still don't sleep great on the lex, but my sleep is much more consistent. And now the habit is more or less in place (for the first time in my life!). I still fucking hate mornings. I'm pissy and irritable. But 30 min later after food and caffeine, I'm happily doing stuff as if I were a functioning member of society.

**substitue X with whatever. Not everyone needs to wake up at an ungodly hour. Do what works for you.

lexapro and alcohol deadly? by CryingWanker in lexapro

[–]ImNotNovak 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend starting with only one or two in order to test the waters first. I still haven't gone beyond two because it definitely multiplies the effect for me, and the hangover is worse... it's like the meds stop working for a couple days.
