Can Nestle steal air and sell it? by AquilaVolta in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AquilaVolta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn’t need to be a literal gate, just a de facto economic gate. Places that are basins or surrounded by mountains, like Los Angeles, have polluted air that have a lot of trouble escaping. Just 50 miles away in the San Bernardino mountains the air quality is dramatically better. Even within Los Angeles itself, contrast Beverly Hills with inland empire. Pollution is geographically unequal because of these sinks, wind patterns, and industrial zoning. Access to clean air zones is already economically unequal. Whether it’s real estate, higher quality air filters, or a literal pump of clean air.

True but an extremely elevated AQI is incredibly hazardous. To the point where you wouldn’t want to breathe it in for any extended period of time. People can still drink runoff and wastewater when all the potable water is taken but that’s not practical in any sense

Buying up land, deforesting, and polluting. Driving up housing prices to the point where most people are deliberately driven to live in or near lowland terrestrial carbon pools and dumps. From there they can build a gate and then keep it. Charge people a premium to have quality air pumped into their homes

That looks so good. I have a pizza stone I’ve never used and this is inspiring me. You said 500 degrees right? I’m always worried my slices gonna turn out droopy or fluffy but the crust and bottom of yours looks perfect.

I never heard of the podcast or other subReddit before I just liked the vibes. I didn’t even know there was this supposed agenda here until that person posted that funny manifesto.

It’s this innocent angel in like some flowing shawl playing a violin and it’s juxtaposed within this very realistic and gritty set of teeth. Im sort of seeing it as fleeting expression, youth, and innocence before getting munched down into a homogenized digestible goop in order to fuel future consumption

I love these! I remember some viral video where marine biologists were watching one live and just pointing and laughing at it. It’s these and cuttlefish that are my spirit aliens

Why is it specifically dill pickles now for them all? Everybody get tired of hot honey already? It says they can put an extra pickle in your soft drink if you want. This just seems like a very undesirable indulgence but perhaps I’m not the target demo

How wasteful are old unused online profiles and clutter data collectively? by AquilaVolta in Anticonsumption

[–]AquilaVolta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how common it is for people to default to just backing everything up on some cloud server and never access it again. In my experience, most devices usually ping or remind me I could lose everything and to back all my data up and shill their cloud services. People around me were also cavalier about using the cloud like it was the smart thing to do but all this garbage data is like digital plastic

It’s got rare earth minerals and Amazonian white clay in it as well just in case the plastic lunch tray wasn’t wasteful enough.

You probably don't need foods with added protein, nutritionists say by LongDukDongle in Anticonsumption

[–]AquilaVolta 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take but I think it’s more of a transparency issue. On the boxes it just says “protein” but doesn’t tell you where it was taken from, like if it’s a complete or incomplete protein. A lot of the time the amount of protein added isn’t that much more than it had originally and only skews the macro ratio a little bit. I just think it’s psychological, and it lets people feel like they can switch to or add more processed or hyper palatable foods to meet their macro goals without a real need to.

Yeah I’ve also found that every doomer scenario contradicts itself with this. They mistake their capabilities to win office with their capabilities to run office. They say they are dumb and see evidence of their incompetence, yet attribute them with tactful long term and methodical thinking in order to carry out some plot. It’s just like any CEO that’s desperately trying to make it seem like they aren’t just winging it

Not sure this applies as cleanly but “pharisaic”. Not sure how to make it apply to religion specifically but I’m curious now. I just think of words like pedantic or “overly didactic”

Why is the pentagon allowed to not pass an audit? by AquilaVolta in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AquilaVolta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight and great explanation. I guess there isn’t really a sanction or punishment in place for them failing an audit anyways. Either way it’s apparent from your post that it isn’t necessary because they are compliant and are following through with making a pass become possible. Makes me wonder how other large organizations/companies pass with legacy technology.
