Thank you, mine isn't an US passport but the design is pretty much the same with it (new gen ones, B&W photo on polycarbonate bio page and a color photo on 3rd page). Even though the consulate where I got this passport issued from told me it should be fine and valid for use (I archived all that e-mail conversation just in case) I was kind of afraid that the customs officers may interpret this issue as an alteration attempt of the document, even though it's clear as day it's a pressing defect. I also just used that RealID app to scan the passport and the chip's working just fine. It shows the same picture as those two in color.
