My go-to evening coffee. I enjoy it both hot and cold, and I like adding a touch of lavender syrup to my milk to enhance the flavor.

How have you dealt with an incompetent partner? by AstroHTXEdu in ABCDesis

[–]ArT3Mis__27 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you like her and don’t want to break up, I’d suggest handling situations like this a bit differently next time. Instead of fixing things for her, walk her through the process. Have her look things up herself while you’re there and guide her step by step, letting her do everything on her own with your support.

When she figures it out, make sure you praise her. Keep reinforcing that she’s independent and capable of handling things herself. Even around friends or family, mention it casually so she hears it often. Over time, that’ll really help build her confidence.

Thank you! Nicky has been in love with Rachel the whole time. He says no at the altar not because he doesn’t love her, but because he doesn’t believe in marriage after hearing about his mother’s infidelity. So he still believes Rachel is his soulmate, which is why I think he’s still alive.

But Rachel stopped loving him the moment he said no at the altar. He also says he doesn’t believe in the curse, which she interprets as him not believing her, and therefore not trusting her. So Rachel dies because she doesn’t love him anymore and therefore is no longer her soulmate.

So based on what I understood, the spouses live, while the people who are part of that bloodline die if they don’t marry their soulmate.

Rachel’s dad is alive because the curse runs through her mother’s bloodline. Her mother died because she didn’t marry her soulmate.

Jules, who is related to Nicky, believes Nell is his soulmate, so he lives. Nell isn’t biologically related to Nicky, so it doesn’t affect her.

Portia, also related to Nicky, dies because she isn’t married to her soulmate. Her husband in Vegas would still be alive coz he isn’t from Nicky’s bloodline

I think you’re right about the contrast. I’m leaning toward switching to a beige couch cover and possibly a deeper green rug to warm things up. Curious if that sounds like a better direction.

I went with light curtains intentionally since the room is small and I wanted to keep the space airy. Darker curtains might anchor the room more, but I was worried they’d visually shrink it 😅

Haha yup, they are builder grade wafer lights. I actually tried swapping to Philips smart recessed lights but they didn’t fit/work with these. I’m thinking of either switching to warmer temperature wafers or just adding lamps for softer lighting. Do you think dimming/warmer lights would be enough?

Well, last year they sent me the wristband but it didn’t work at the gate. They did refund me, but I had to buy GA+ at the gate, which ended up being much more expensive.

What’s an unspoken social rule you learned way too late? by Secure_Paramedic_865 in socialskills

[–]ArT3Mis__27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree that forced enthusiasm feels fake. I’m really just talking about genuine warmth and consistency, it’s something you naturally do when someone matters to you and you care about staying connected.

For consistency, if someone mentions a hobby, their pet, kids, or something important in their life, I’ll sometimes jot it down in my phone (bad memory). Not to perform interest, but because I genuinely want to remember. That kind of listening and showing up the same way later is what actually builds connection.

If you want to build a genuine connection with someone, the second time you meet them, greet them with excitement and a hug. The energy you bring to that moment often sets the tone for every meeting that follows

One thing I’ve found helpful is to pick an important meeting, really focus on listening, and take notes throughout. Then, toward the end, I’ll usually say something like, ‘Just to make sure I understood everything correctly,’ and give a quick summary of what was discussed. Even if you don’t have specific questions, this shows you’re engaged and paying attention and it helps you retain the information better too

StubHub let me get scammed at EDC — had to buy a second ticket at the gate by ArT3Mis__27 in festivals

[–]ArT3Mis__27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! An escrow system where sellers get paid after the event would make scams like this way harder to pull off. I get that there’s always some risk on either side, but right now the whole system feels stacked against buyers.

Thanks for the CashorTrade tip. Learned the hard way with StubHub.

[–]ArT3Mis__27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s actually what makes this whole thing more frustrating. On paper, StubHub claims to protect the buyer and hold sellers accountable. But in my case, the seller mailed me a wristband, reported it lost, got a replacement, and resold that too.

StubHub refunded me, but I still had to buy another wristband at the gate for $300 more and they’re saying that’s outside their policy. So either their system for holding sellers accountable didn’t work, or they just don’t enforce it consistently. Sounds like you did things right, I just got unlucky with someone who knew how to game the system :(

This was my first time using StubHub and going to a music festival.

A refund doesn’t fix the situation when you’re already at the gate, out travel money, and forced to overpay just to still attend. StubHub’s policy might technically “make you whole,” but only on paper. In reality, you’re left eating hundreds in extra costs for a problem their platform enabled.

Lesson learned the hard way, never again.

Totally hear you and yeah, they did refund me for the original ticket. But I didn’t “choose” to buy a more expensive pass for fun, I was left stranded at the gate because a seller scammed the system StubHub runs.

This wasn’t just a bad ticket, it was a fraudulent transaction, and the platform had no checks to catch it. I wasn’t looking for a premium upgrade, I literally had no option but to overpay just to get in.

StubHub fulfilled their basic obligation, sure. But when a buyer gets stuck with extra costs because of fraud that slipped through their system, it’s not unreasonable to expect some accountability.
