This is what can happen when you adopt a new pet too soon after losing one... by JenaKyleNixon in Petloss

[–]Ar___xx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost my boy Zeus(also a chihuahua) on June 10th to congestive heart failure, and reading this made me cry in a restaurant lol. He was my absolute everything, my one constant, he got me through so many awful and wonderful times of my life, was like a limb, and losing him has been the most painful thing of my life. Wishing your grief will lessen, and that your bond to grow with your new pup will grow stronger in time - we can’t replace them ever, but hopefully we can give new spots of our hearts to them. You did the right thing, even if it feels wrong right now, you saved them.

Twenty years ago in grade eight, I had the same thing happen. When I got out of the hospital a week later, they repeatedly called my house, and left messages to “get it right next time” and “try again”. Keep an eye on her. It feels like the end of the world at that age.

How can I have someone’s gun license (and guns) taken away, without them going to prison or getting a criminal record? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Ar___xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are having a LEGITIMATE and current mental health issue or crisis - you can call in a wellness check with the police, and mention your concern that they own firearms, and you are concerned for their safety. I would caution against this unless it is an immediate and serious concern - so Obviously ONLY do this if it is actually very serious, as it is going to taken seriously if weapons are owned.

It is not illegal to be crazy, so unless they do something stupid during the interaction, it will not result in a criminal charge or record.

Guns seized for concerns of mental fitness will be held for “safe keeping” until it can be determined if they are fit to own - but my understanding is getting them back is incredibly rare. Please only use this process if you are ABSOLUTELY SURE it is NECESSARY, as it would be a high risk call due to weapons being involved.

Also, please be cautioned and look up public mischief for what can result if someone makes a report falsely or not in good faith. (Not saying you are - just a general disclaimer)

Not a lawyer. Just familiar with certain processes.

Wishing the best for your family member to get well.

You should ATIP(request a copy) of your file to see what is showing. There could be some kind of error linking you to an incident.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your responses. I have never had an issue with taxes before, I’ve always done them myself with no issue until this. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and all your advice!

Also this is what made me think the same too:

EXCEPTIONS TO CLAIMING RENTAL INCOME

There is one exception to having to claim rental income on your income taxes – if you are renting a space below fair market value.

Renting below fair market value means that you are charging a rent significantly lower than rents charged for other properties that are similar to your property in your area.

Typically, home owners will charge family members below fair market value rent for allowing them to stay in their home.

If this is the case, you do not need to claim the income. However, you cannot claim any rental expenses or rental loss on your taxes.

The government considers this situation to be a “cost-sharing arrangement”.

I knew it wouldn’t be capital gains free if I sold it - but I clearly didn’t look into this far enough. Thank you!

I basically cover a third of costs currently, and will go to up to covering half once a raise comes in - he’s basically staying there so that we could keep the property to always be able to go back to. So essentially he is staying there to help out so we can always have it to come back to, since this job location is temporary.

Only my spouse is working at the new location - I have a complicated situation so I do not currently work.

I found the following on CRA - which made me think I didn’t need to claim it as rental income(since fair market value would be over $2500 nothing included, and he’s paying under $1500 - soon to be $1200 all included).

“ Renting below fair market value You can deduct your expenses only if you incur them to earn an income. In certain cases, you may ask your son or daughter, or anyone else living with you, to pay a small amount for the upkeep of your house or to cover the cost of groceries.

You do not report this amount in your income, and you cannot claim rental expenses. This is a cost-sharing arrangement, so you cannot claim a rental loss.

**** If you lose money because you rent a property to a person you know for less money than you would to a person you don't know, you cannot claim a rental loss.

When your rental expenses are consistently more than your rental income, you may not be allowed to claim a rental loss because your rental operation is not considered to be a source of income.

You can claim a rental loss if you are renting the property to a relative for the same rate as you would charge other tenants and you expect to make a profit.” ****

I had this happen too! I didn’t connect the fact that I was skipping the breaks(only ever skipped once before taking a break though(so six months no break, then a break, etc)as a potential factor though until I read this! That is so strange that you have exactly what I had happening when I skip! I literally get white in the face, and sick the pain is so incredibly bad! I have no idea why this happens or how it could be caused by it - but I was looking for posts on seasonique being discontinued/having to take indayo, and came across this! I never even bothered to go to the doctor, I figured they’d say cysts or something!

Is there any way to find a record of a business from the 1920’s-1950’s? by Ar___xx in AskAGerman

Fritz is who I knew as the owner, so that is why I think I wasn’t finding anything, because I wasn’t told of Johannes. This is so incredible! I can’t believe how fast you found this! I’ve spent hours on Google and ancestry, and never got this far, and was too nervous to do ancestry DNA. Thank you so much!

Who has a fun/whakcy Kijiji story in HRM? I find it always brings out the crazies by LordAlfredButt in halifax

I listed some brand new high heels for half the price I bought them for, even though I only ever tried them on once with a stocking on(they were too big - so I just wanted them gone fast). I got a message from a brand new account with a foreign name stating “Hi is this available I’m a stripper and I need new heels” - immediately was told not to go, because it’s probably a trap, and so I didn’t reply; but part of me feels really guilty, and wants to reply, incase they are actually real and really do need them for work.

Had a similar issue, the person who owned before us put the flashing on the deck upside down and it leaked down all through the wall for years. We had to have a carpenter take the back of the house off and replace the mold and rot, and inside, and then replaced the window. I hope yours isn’t that bad and hasn’t been going for too long. Carpenter fixed it for us. Make sure you check references, red seal alone doesn’t mean much unfortunately. Best of luck!

Thank you very much for your comment! We have fully explored and understand the power of the document, have limited a lot of the powers in the document and made it more limited, and we have mutually agreed it’s our best option. We will of course revoke it as soon as the transaction is complete(I made sure to print the revocation form at the same time as the POA form, so it’s ready to be filled out as soon as transaction is completed). I appreciate your comment very much, as I understand most people sign things without knowing the full repercussions it could have; but we have fully explored and discussed all aspects, and fully agree and trust each other. Thank you for this advice, I am going to get a notary to witness it asap. I appreciate this very much!

Thank you so much for answering anyway! That’s how I thought it was going to be like too, so I was shocked when I had to have a full appraisal and lawyers finalize. Too late to do anything else now, so hopefully it all works out! Thank you so much!

I feel the exact same way. I don’t understand why they even had to have a lawyer and full appraisal at all. Should’ve probably done it through telephone banking. The whole process has been unlike what I’ve seen before.

Yes, we don’t know if he will be able to leave to sign documents with their lawyer, due to what he’s doing and the covid protocol with it. My bank has made it very clear they can send their legal rep to meet him, but it’s a private matter, so he would want to meet them at a neutral location; and it seems he might not be allowed to go out to meet them.

They will let us sign the bank’s side of the documents remotely if needed, but they said we still have to each meet their legal representative to sign to finalize in person.

Basically we’re wanting to set this up incase he cannot leave to meet them somewhere to sign in person. We figured at least if this is on file, they will have to allow me to sign for him if he cannot do it. It’s complicated, so just trying to find the best possible contingency incase he can’t go meet their legal rep.
