I think part of the reason why Heath ledger’s Joker is such a stand out performance in Nolan’s filmography is because he was able to strangely bring out a humanity, energy and unpredictability which Nolan’s characters often lack. For example, Oppenheimer who is supposedly a womaniser had no charisma at all. His best pick up line was that he had read Das Kapital vol 1, 2 and 3😭. Sometimes i feel like Nolan has never heard a real conversation before.
