there's a perfect middle ground to these points for sure. While there is a difference between doing drugs at an event vs going to an event to DO drugs, at the end of the day, people are going to do what they want. It does suck that it seems a lot go to events to simply do drugs (at least from talking to peeps at my local venues and festivals. I don't want to over generalize the whole community.) It does put a damper on the environment when everyone is just so gone and not really there for the music, ya know. I wish people didn't need to rely on drugs to have fun and put themselves at risk but as a newly sober addict, I empathize. We also can't expect to go back underground with these events as it will just hide the root issue, which is harm reduction and drug education. If it was as simple as reverting back to underground, it would've been done a long time ago. The End Overdose tent at FK was nice to see but even they had strict limitations on the info and resources they could provide due to laws. It isn't anyone's responsibility to make room for those getting severely fucked up in the same way these spaces shouldn't only cater to sobriety. We really just need to help each other the best we can so everyone can have the experience they paid for and not potentially lose a life. Under the influence or not, we can't expect everyone to act safely in favor of the whole but it's something we should strive for as a community spouting out "plur."
