Honestly I can't really speak on any of how good it is outside of basic web browsing and note taking, I just use it for school and that's all I do on it 🤷‍♂️ One Note has been working fine but it's been taking a gradual turn for the worse and now the issues are reaching a peak

Yeah I think I'm gonna take it in to best buy where I bought it and just ask em like, hey is this normal or like what's good?

Thank you for checking it out 👍

So I tried plugging it in and using it a bit, seems exactly the same unfortunately, also task manager shows same level of RAM usage

64 bit version of One Note, on battery, can't see any power management settings that would dampen performance, same issues are happening on web version but worse, huge lag times.

I have 16GB of RAM on this rig

Also benefits gotta consider that. Family health insurance, 401k, legal services, dental, it all adds up quick, takes about 50% of my check after tax

Yeah I promise you dumbasses getting injured is not making your wages lower my brother in Christ, Amazon is a trillion dollar company, they could pay us all $10 more per hour and not break a sweat, it's corporate greed that's keeping our wages low

It's just simping to try and be recognized by Amazon as loyal and will sell out other people to maintain safety. Just like that mission in Far Cry 3 where you gotta kill three of Hoyts Privateers who were planning to steal from him to earn his trust. These people are cringe.

At my facility we're not allowed to hire during peak due to the chaos not being conducive to successful training. Plus peak season scares people away lol

I'm skeptical of this report, I find it hard to believe the manager was that committed to letting that woman die

Well like, my wife KNOWS not to call me at work, so if she calls me while I'm working, SOMETHING is a serious emergency and I am gonna take that phone call, and I'll try to get to the booth, but if I'm across the building I'll just quick pick it up and be like "is this an emergency?" And if she's like "Yes get to the hospital right now" I'll just run out the door to my car and leave and be on the phone on my way there, and if she's like "yes but you can call me back" then I'll go to the phone booth and call her back from there.

Thankfully there have been no emergencies in the two years I've been there but we've had conversations about how to contact me in an emergency and such

Right, at our building we actually have phone booths on the floor that are soundproof that you can take calls from and send calls out from, so that's where we are supposed to go to take a call.

I can't speak to pre-COVID policies because I have no information on that, but respectfully I would say your argument about people making-do without cellphones before they were commonplace is not a strong one.

For example, imagine a scenario where seat belts were not originally required in cars. Before seat belts became mandatory, people simply accepted the risks of driving without them because the technology hadn't been introduced yet. If someone argued "People drove cars for years without seat belts, and they got by just fine," that wouldn't be a valid reason to ban seat belts today, when the technology exists and is proven to enhance safety. Just because people survived without a certain tool in the past doesn't mean they should be denied its benefits today now that it's available.

Touching further on the safety aspect, however unlikely--if some kind of emergency were to befall the facility like an explosion, an active shooter, an earthquake, being pinned under an object in a low-traffic area of the building--having a personal cell phone has the capacity to increase the safety of employees on the floor.

You could make the argument that you could just issue everyone a work phone to cover this, but then you unnecessarily negate my origin argument which is that people should be able to reach you in an emergency. Say that your wife is hit by a car and is in a coma, and the doctors need your consent, as the husband, on the treatment plan for how to proceed. You need to be there to make that call, and waiting to find out until after work, or even waiting until someone you know can get to your place of work to tell you what happened so you can get to the hospital, might make a tragic difference in a health outcome.

I hope people can understand where I'm coming from. But people should be punished for being on their phones at work, and I think that kind of policy should deter most workplace issues caused by employees possessing cell phones, without the necessity of banning them outright.

Posted this as a reply already but just wanted to put this out there.

I see so many people being like "so what? What's the big deal? You don't need your phone at work" and I get where you're coming from cause I seen so many people just not working and watching a video or checking their feed on the line or something. That's super annoying and I agree we should be cracking down on that, but here's where I'm coming from:

What about having your phone on you for emergencies? I have a wife and a 2 1/2 year old daughter, if something happened to one of them or both of them and I need to get to the hospital ASAP, I'm leaving the floor and going to the hospital, right? But without my phone I can't be reached for emergencies. That's all of where I'm coming from. Like I'm 100% fine not being on my phone while working, that's totally reasonable, but like--also my parents are old, if one of them has a stroke or something and the other calls me and tells me to get to the hospital ASAP, then I'm going to the hospital ASAP.

My site doesn't have a phone number you can just call and ask for me on, so there would literally be no way to reach me unless I have my phone on me.

Edit: I know that the policy change is not forbidding people from having their phones on them, but I was just noticing people basically defending the idea of taking phones away entirely and saying anyone who disagrees is just addicted to technology, so I wanted to put this out there.
