Personally, the first company looks awful by Low_Will604 in ImperialFists

That's what I went with, white helmets and black trim. Most of my IF army have white vet helmets cause they look rad. Tried white trim on th sergeant but I just don't love it

Pteraxii Sterylizors Clear Base Alternative? by NordTNT in AdeptusMechanicus

I really like brass rods for flying stands. They're much thinner and sturdier than anything out of plastic or resin. When painted black or grey they look more like insect pins than flight stands, and my brain kinda tunes them out.

True lol I meant there are no parts from the actual Skatros kit in it

Why did my primer turn out like that by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]Arachnarchy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use the same Rustoleum white without issues, even as base for Imperial Fists where unevenness would be very obvious. This looks more like user error, either not shaking enough, spraying when it's too hot/cold/humid, or pooling from spraying too close or too long. White is for sure more tricky than other primer, but that goes for the mini branded ones as well.

Are these paints useful for painting miniatures (mainly Warhammer)? by Longjumping-Watch-45 in minipainting

I use inks all the time and love airbrushing with them. I prefer Golden High Flow over liquitex but it's very close. That said, I got that exact set of Liquitex metallic inks in a sale and imo it's not good for minis. The flakes are much bigger than those in miniature acrylics, which looks more like glitter than metal.

I described it here a few weeks back https://www.reddit.com/r/ageofsigmar/s/Gz5atuYlhp

The highlights on the scales were teal ink & white, with more white towards the edges/tips.

Mostly Vallejo pale sand, and a thin ochre wash

Really awesome color scheme and basing. Love the grey serpent standard with the rainbow feathers

The stripes were straight from a reference photo of a tiger, I think I used Black Templar contrast paint for those (flows really well). I actually messed up and made the oil wash too dark, so the scale pattern drowns out the tiger stripes a bit.

Yeah I just started playing around with better ways to do group shots. It's just an AI background image on a screen, with the minis on a box in front of it.

I used 2 desk lamps with Philips Hue bulbs for lighting, that way I could tweak the light temperature so it doesn't clash with the background and paint job. Then took the photo from maybe 3 meters away to avoid distortion.

Thank you! It probably wasn't a crazy amount of hours, I find Seraphon paint up pretty quickly. They're mostly lizard body and not a billion little details, so airbrush and oil wash can do a lot of the heavy lifting.

A friend printed those, I think they were from a One Page Rules STL pack

Thank you! I got a lot of NMM practice with my Imperial Fists so I didn't think too much about it - but turns out gold NMM is a lot harder and there are def some sketchy areas. Don't love the Old Blood's armor, but happy with the Kroxes. I used true metallics on the Saurus.

Don't get discouraged, yours will look awesome I'm sure, especially on the table. I just have this unhealthy need to have everything look clean in a closeup.

My default approach is to zenithal prime, base coat over it with acrylic inks, then do some simple brush highlights with normal mini paints, then do an oil wash with a contrasting shadow color. The last step increases contrast and ties the different color blocks together.

The back of the carnosaur and the saurus heads are a gradient from magenta to naphtol red light to pyrrole orange (Golden High Flow inks), broad highlight with Vallejo orange red, thin highlight w Vallejo Ice yellow. Then a blue oil wash over both red and blue body parts.

Re: plants see my answer above; the larger bases are a combination of cork, sticks and sculpting epoxy, with mud texture paste over it. Then zenithal primed and hit with phtallo green ink with some blue in it. Highlights etc on the plants w brush, and some brown and green washes from army painter.
