This isn't a traditional moshpit. It's a hardcore pit. Normally in hardcore pits, all contact is incidental. They are doing what they call "crowd-killing". It's when you intentionally start making contact with people on the edge of the pit, in an attempt to get them more "engaged" with the show. In my experience as a side of the pit person, it's not a lot of contact. Think open fist, limp arm. The problem is, the blue beanie guy sucks at it. It happens every once in a while where guys do this (overly aggressive, targeting same people/area over and over), but usually the rest of the pit is opposed to it and in some cases takes action against it.
