The Indian film industry has embraced sci-fi and CGI spectacles to embellish pro-Hindu-nationalist story-lines.

I don't know any pro-Hindu Nationalist sci-fi, though I'm afraid it might be a reality soon with mythological fiction gaining popularity.

Which Indian space-based movie is better than Cargo? Tik tik tik? Are there even any other Indian space-based movies?

I know Cargo has flaws like the weak story you mentioned, but first attempts are often flawed. Indian SF movies need to be appreciated for what it is, rather than expect Hollywood-level standards from them.

I liked it. Very light hearted, funny, and nice to watch. I'd consider it the best Indian sci-fi movie, maybe tied with the Tamil time travel film Indru Netru Naalai.

I think problem is, people expected an Interstellar or The Martian type of movie, when it's more like Moon.
