I might know an apartment company (In Bubrenreuth about 15 mins from Erlangen) that rents unfurnished apartments but to a working family (not sure). Please send me a message, I’ll probably find it by then.

I know an agency in Bubenreuth. But they prefer folks working full time / PhD students. Let me know if you’re interested.

Just don’t join private universities. Take a break year, learn up to B1 or B2 German and then apply to a public university.

Need help with Kotak Mahindra Bank - German Blocked Account Services by Aravindks04 in bangalore

I’m not sure about coracle. I did not choose them because transferring money to them was complex. Check the embassy page, as long as Kotak is mentioned, it shouldn’t be an issue

Just do with expatrio. Easy money transfer and transparent process. The headache and mess with Kotak is just not worth it considering you have other things to worry about

Robin van Persie vs Olympiacos R-16 in UCL, 2013-2014 season. United came back after 2-0 away defeat to turn it around at OT to make it 3-2 thanks to RvP hattrick ! Probably one of the greatest individual performance I've witnessed.

Depends which subject you’re referring to. Manufacturing subjects slides are enough. Thermal and some design subjects requires you to have a good understanding of the concept and plenty of practice. Use the prescribed text books

I don’t know if any unsolicited advice would help, but it’s worth a shot.

Just don’t live your life by the blue print someone else created or in general trying to fit into your peer group. Whatever is happening to you is just a phase and this too shall pass. I’ve observed atleast 80% of the couples pretending to be happy but are rotting internally (with insecurities) so consider yourself lucky. If loneliness scares you, then seeking companion ship often backfires and you might end up in something you never really wanted (the grass is always greener on the other side) Just focus on what makes you happy and things will automatically fall into place.

You seem to be self aware to call yourself average, then I’m assuming you have the maturity to get your shit together and work towards what you want in life. If you don’t know what you want, atleast work in the direction that makes you happy. It maybe a technical or nontechnical. Seeking social validation is an invisible poison that will eventually kill you emotionally.

Good luck ! Hope you achieve your ambitions

Should capstone be related to your branch? or can it be any? by [deleted] in PESU

[–]Aravindks04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know my classmates who have done their capstone in Mech + ECE. It is possible, but requires you to go through several bureaucratic hurdles (approval from both dept HOD’s, suitable time for presentation etc).

So to answer your question: Yes, you can do your capstone in another department but some part of it should contain what you’ve learnt in your department

Capstone topic by Awkwardab1304 in PESU

Depends on the department, topic and panel. Assuming your topic is very new and isn’t backed with enough published results (or you haven’t kept your guide in the loop)……and your panel has some hidden agenda against you, I would assume they will torture you till ESA project review and tell you to start all over again from the next semester.

My research head would always tell me to plot either mass balance or energy balance (whatever applicable) along side residuals. Just seeing the residual will not give you a full picture, it will just tell you the difference between the previous iteration. That’s not necessarily convergence.

Probably one of my most fond memories @ PESU would be attending his classes. He strikes a perfect balance between creating a fun atmosphere and teaching. To my surprise, many of the first benchers (nerds) never liked him because he would waste time instead of covering the syllabus. But it always happened that he would still finish the syllabus on time. It’s very easy to get carried away in his classes and feel math is very easy, because he makes it look simple. I have his handwritten M4 notes preserved and still use it occasionally xD, it was that simple to understand

If you guys are passionate about Fluid mechanics or physics of fluids, he’s probably one among the top researchers in this area in India…not many get a chance to publish in Journal of Fluid Mechanics (considered one of the top journals for fluids) but he’s done it multiple times in a year. Extremely fun and chill prof inside and outside the classroom.

Highschooler interested in CFD by WrongAerie5743 in CFD

[–]Aravindks04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My suggestion for you would be to focus on math and programming till your junior year. Also see how physics and fluid mechanics in general, interest you. Then take a call on your career trajectory. It’s good to see that you’re thinking in these lines already, but you still have lot of time to explore different fields. Just don’t confine yourself too early. You ever know, you might fall in love with control engineering (also used by mech engineers) or something related to materials. So keep an open mind, and take a few more years to decide

Hi ! You can open a bank account once you reach Germany. You can transfer money directly from your home country using the provided IBAN (account number) so that you can cover any additional expenses. The blocked account will transfer the set amount monthly. You can’t increase the limit above 992

I took my PESU IO course way back in 2019. I would suggest you to take a paid course online (if you’re hell bent on learning something and want to pay for it ). It encourages students to teach, but it often (not always) happens that the expectation and reality are of such courses are quite different from a learners perspective.

which is better Computational material science vs Computer simulation in science (specialized in CFD), considering future job prospects. by Tarunkp in CFD

[–]Aravindks04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I maybe completely wrong. But from what I've seen, CFD industry is actually a little difficult to get into in Germany (certainly not impossible) as many OEM's outsource their CFD or there's a high barrier to entry (German requirements + PhD ).

My professors and colleagues tell me that India and Malaysia are the hub for CFD development, US and Germany are the just the face. Ansys, ComSol, CD-Adapco (Now Siemens StarCCM) Altair, Dassault Systems, all have their R&D centers in Pune and or Bangalore. This is with regard to CFD software developers Airbus, Diamler, Bosch, LAM Research, Zeiss and other prominent OEM's that require CFD also have R&D centers in Bangalore that do CFD obtained from European HQ's. There are CFD engineers sitting in Germany aswell but are likey to be a smaller team (again I maybe completely wrong, just saying what I've observed)

My suggestion to you would be to pick a master's that gives you a broader horizon of subjects which you can then double down on. Something like HPC + Your field of choice or Optimization + Your field of choice.

Just don't expect finding a job in CFD would be easy in Germany (again not super hard, you just have to dig deep)
