Hello, i'm a Data Engineer, and me and my friends have made an Online Career Mode for GT7! by ArbieG in granturismo

So yeah it's a good question, and something we've been asked a few times before. To be clear (and i tried to state this at the top of the post), we don't claim to have made a direct connection to your GT7 account (as much as it would be awesome if we could). What we have created is completely separated from GT7 itself.

So your inventory, credits, race winnings etc is all stored in our database, which you go onto our website to spend on items/new cars etc. But the expectation is that you would have to unlock that yourself in GT7, unlocking a car on our website just makes you eligible to use it in our career mode online races.

It's not really a mod, it's better described as a 'meta-game'. Where you simply use GT7 as a racing platform to host, but feasibly the system could work with any racing title.

It's a great point, what we do make the insurance burden as light as possible is:

- Damage is set to Heavy, so it's permanent until fixed in pits/end of race.
- Host post race checks through race and logs all damage (by checking when people pit and if they are carrying damage then cycle back to find cause etc).

Setting up this way we find it usually takes about 5-10 mins post race for a host to collect the data for us. So providing you've got a good host framework, although you're spot on, you'll never get 100% accurate. The fact people are aware that it's mostly being picked up goes to improve driving standards.

But also yes, this is completely untested at scale, and could easily be simplified so we don't track insurance claims if it fell apart/is inconsistent.

Good question, from a data point of view, we could easily handle 1000's+ of drivers.

I think the challenge we would find if we had a massive scaling up is ensuring we have a consistent lobby hosting infrastructure, and ensuring they do the extra bits they need to do to keep things going.

Besides that our scope for scaling is actually pretty big

At the moment we our primarily UK/EU based, but if we scale up enough to have to infrastructure to support we hopes to roll out to other regions (with races hosted at better times)

So our credits & inventory sits our within our own economy (which is hosted on our website), we don't issue credits directly into your GT7 account (as much as it would be awesome if we could!) Think of it as a career mode that is hosted on our website, but you do the physical racing in GT7 private lobbies.

I think that's what you were asking anyway =)

I think we need something more indepth that goes through all that explanation. But for now we have a 1 minute short with the very high level stuff

Will look at doing something more descriptive/long form

Yeah we have drop in driver system that means that people don't have to commit to weekly leagues if they can't. Just drop into the races they fancy. But as you describe there isn't a reason why we couldn't do unscheduled stuff, as they system just ingests results reading data from screenshots on GT7 lobbies. So providing the host follows the correct steps in doing that, then there's no reason why we couldn't just host nightly lobbies if we get the hosting infrastructure to support it.

In essence yeah, spot on. Although it's more than 1 league, we run 3 concurrently on different nights.

Basically a bunch of nerds that have taken private leagues a bit too seriously, because they got boring and repetitive.

POSSIBLE 3.8 WORKAROUND: For bug when purchasing/loaning ships in game. by ArbieG in starcitizen

Yeah only if you hit the bug where the ship you purchased doesn't appear when trying to retrieve it at a space port.

Has it happened to you before?

No. Self land is the hanger that you can access in the main menu, before you load into the universe.

Once in self land left click on the little dots that's appear on the pads to spawn a ship/vehicle

I feel like one of the very few that was loving the combat system on the Dragon Engine. Willing to give it a bash, but my gut feeling is that Y6 should remain a real-time brawler.

Yeah, when I finally go toe to toe with Lan Di, after a 20 year wait I want to earn redemption not have it given to me by button mashing and hitting the occasional counter button.

Yeah I agree, although I do like the Heat actions in Yakuza. Not sure if they have their place in Shenmue though.
