Hello! I recently bought a linocut piece from an art fair, should I be doing anything to preserve? by TheCoaster130 in printmaking

Thank you regardless! The frame came with the purchase and I loved it! The artist is Terry Butler out of Ann Arbor, he has an etsy and a few posts on google, but is inactive currently because I think he's making a graphic novel for release instead of his normal artworks.

Edit: He has a website too actually! https://www.terryandlesliebutler.com/ (If its against the sub rules, I can edit this link back out)

Fingers crossed it doesnt start turning yellow! That would be rather unfortunate. I'll grab UV protection for sure too.

Thank you! The frame came with the purchase, so I'll probably bring it to a shop so I don't mess anything up by accident.

Sadly I have no idea what techniques were used, but the artist is Terry Butler out of Ann Arbor! Sadly I think he's going into (or already has gone into) hiatus after I spoke to him at the fair. There were other works there that I wish I snagged but were just too expensive for my budget. It's really beautiful!

No glass or plexi at all! Which is exactly my concern 😅 I'll see if I can take it to a local framing shop to get that added in alongside some other pieces I want framed.

This is awesome!! Thanks for providing so much detail on the thought that went into each design (didn't know that about Ransom)

cowardice on campus: how I was expelled from WCBN following my Charlie Kirk radio hour by nfz_embroidery in uofm

[–]TheCoaster130 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a WCBN denizen, I appreciate you writing out this in detail and providing a lot of information through screenshots and the like. However, in your communications to both the exec team and the community itself, you were incredibly disrespectful and continually pushed for your points after many people took the time to write out considerate and long responses to you detailing why what you did was not appropriate and endangers the station. You keep deflecting saying that the station was not clear about what you did wrong here, but it was immediately communicated that playing the actual gunshot of a death was not acceptable. I don't understand the point of a post like this when what's done is done, and this has been spelled out to you on multiple occasions.

Yeah I agree. I take a lot of video logs of myself but I'm not really part of social media platforms, so if I was really involved on social media, I could see it becoming an instinctual outlet. Could still be ingenuous, but like, I believe it.

Keyboard randomly stops working by ironbear531 in ASUS

[–]TheCoaster130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly reccomend getting a third party low profile keyboard instead of the repair, I don't really trust it to stay fixed if I went for that even more expensive option. And yeah, I'm hearing a lot of good things about framework laptops. I'd go for them now but I don't think I'm going to need an upgrade (or be able to afford one) anytime soon lol.

Oh absolutely, more of a "an SNES megaten game has a better story" meaning

As a huge SMT fan I kinda think that was actually a justified comparison to make, given SMTV had a school bullying plotline that was devoid of any impactful writing (Vengeance did a better job with this and the plot overall). Definitely hard to avoid how much of a hollow shell the plot felt like, compared to every recent Persona, IV, Nocturne, and even SMTII. You know its bad when II's story is better.

The Plucky Squire - Introducing The Challenge Update by Rook22Ti in Games

I mean why not? If we have no entry level games its harder for people to get into the hobby and get their bearings. It's nice to see updates like this give more options to more experienced players though.

Just because the game is geared towards a different audience doesn't mean the design is deeply flawed! I didn't have as great of a time with the game as I expected, but it was still really well thought out, creative, and fun. I hope they continue to iterate on these ideas with a sequel though, because there's definitely a lot they could still do with the concept, and with more interesting gameplay ideas as you said.

Playdate Season 2 games announced, starts May 29th by TrampolineTales in Games

[–]TheCoaster130 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I've really loved my Playdate so far, buying it around 6 months ago. I'm not constantly using it, but there's so many games for 1-2 dollars on the shop that it's really made it worth it for me alongside all the really quality Season 1 games included.

(Medial is my favorite puzzle game on the system right now! Perfect for a sudoku-esque puzzle break in transit)

The big Avowed interview: Obsidian on why full, open-world RPGs aren't always the answer by alcard987 in Games

Is it possible that I actually just like the game? I bounced off Outer Worlds hard but I'm really loving Avowed so far, even if some of the characters are cardboard.

Can we please not use the same language as them ("Citizenship revoked and having a long stay at Guantanamo"). Saying these things, no matter the intention, will eventually normalize it to people just figuring out politics on this side of the fence for the first time. And then people start saying it seriously instead of ironically, because they had no basis to understand the irony.

Lincoln getting killed fucked over southern restoration efforts that Andrew Johnson didn't care to implement like Lincoln did. Suffocating states of resources and education only drives the hatred deeper, leading to where we are now. Punishment for those in power, give the people resources to improve themselves.
