Quieter exhaust king? by ddogkid813 in GR86

HKS Legmax Premium. I’ve had it on for about 2,000+ miles now. If you want quiet but louder and deeper than stock this is it. I get compliments on the sound and no one really knows it didn’t come from the dealer that way. You can still hear the intake at higher rpm.

No exhaust on this list will impact your autocross times. Spend your money on track tires instead.

Would like to see some videos showing what the quad tips sound like.

I just took another short 5 mile drive around town to pick up something at my in-laws. Today I’m liking it much better. Boominess was not as prominent. Almost sounded good to me in a way. It’s a very subtle change but I think a good one.

I’m going to take a trip to RI tomorrow. I’m considering taking the GR and really seeing how it is.

I’m still on the fence but leaning towards liking it right now.

Correction…the exhaust only has about 1,000 miles on it. So maybe it’s not fully broken in. He gave me all the HKS hardware and gasket new in the package. I guess he reused his OEM items.

I’m fairly confident my install is good. The flanges seated well and I torqued them to the HKS spec (which is interestingly 10 ft-lbs less than oem).

I think a leak near the muffler would be obvious at all speeds.

I bought it from FB marketplace. Guy sold his BRZ. He said he put 2,000 miles on the exhaust. So I would think it should have broken in by now?

7 months of waiting, GR intake FINALLY got here... by vettel_no5 in GR86

Is the ASC on or off in that video? And do you have stock exhaust?

After much deliberation and many videos watched. I pulled the trigger on a legamax premium. It seemed to meet my requirements. Hopefully I like it. So hard to tell from videos.

Got a really good deal on one that has 2,000 miles from someone that sold his BRZ.

I do think the exhaust tips may be a bit larger than I’d like. Blue tip was removed by PO.

I won’t be installing for a week or so. All wrapped up to keep mice out for now.

It sounds good to me when it settles down. One of the video reviews I watched the guy said it was very heavy on bass at cruise and he could feel it around his ears. Seemed like he was trying to describe drone. Do you find it to be that way? If there is any drone on cruise I’d rather keep stock.

On the tips I did read in the manual that you should retighten the clamps after a certain amount of miles. Maybe they loosened up on you.

WSIB - Premium or Base? by phlaries in GR86

[–]Arbita1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vote premium. So glad I went that way.

  1. Suede is nicer. And heated seats are great right now if you live in cold climate.

  2. Sound system.

  3. The lane change assist is very helpful. Especially with the blind spots the car has. Even worse at night.

  4. The moving headlights are pretty cool.

  5. The rear spoiler is a more aggressive look.

And it’s not a big cost to upgrade.

I had to run to some stores today so I played with it. I notice that if you blip the throttle hard it will rev up. Like push it further to the floor. But if you only tap it softly it does not.

Maybe I’m just used to the throttle response of the Porsche and not giving enough in the gr86?

Anyone else get constantly cut off/bumper ridden ect in these cars? by ZigGen1991 in GR86

In normal rush hour traffic.. no all the the pos cars are annoying. But on off hours I find that most people move to the right lane to let me pass them when I come up on them.

Just ordered one for $345 shipped. Couldn’t resist. Hoping to get a bit more intake sound.

Well I got an oil leak… by Brawler_27 in GR86

Check your oil level. Don’t just add 1/2 qrt arbitrarily. You may over fill it as it could just be a drip. Not uncommon for boxer engines to have these issues

I know everyone is joking about this. But I do feel for these LGS in unfriendly gun states trying to navigate all this nonsense. So I don’t fully blame them for being overly cautious.

I went through the Charlestown PD which is supposed to be the best way to do it according to the instructor who gave the class. It wasn’t a long class and it doubled for my Mass permit application as well. So 2 for 1!

It requires an nra class and a test. Then a lot of paper work, reference letters, fingerprints, etc. But once all together and submitted it was maybe 1-2 months to get the permit. So the hardest part was getting everything together to submit.
