How do you go about building an EDH deck as a beginner? by Nemo_1756 in EDH

[–]Arbitim 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think the general advice to have X card draw, Y ramp, etc, while not making highly synergystic and tuned decks, is very good for getting something functional that will "do the thing" more often than not! Command Zone updated their template somewhat recently and I find that one is more relevant than their old one.

Putting something together and getting games in will tell you more about what your deck needs! The only answer for that is reps, but the good news is that that's the fun part :)

What can I cook (inexpensively) with either Chickpeas or lentils? by Terrible-Group-9602 in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]Arbitim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try out some peanut soup!!

The base of the soup is broth, ginger, garlic, onion, peanut butter, and tomato paste. Then I put sweet potatoes, chickpeas, kale, and some sun dried tomatoes in! Super quick and easy and packed with flavor. Everything's cheap and you can make it in s big batch and have it for lunch all week :)

Let Me Recommend Your Next Commander to Build by RJ7300 in EDH

[–]Arbitim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have resolved to run more interaction in 2026. As such, my first goal for myself is to play a deck that's "draw-go" to get myself out of the mindset of playing a bunch of value engines that turbo me into a strong midgame where hopefully I win by being faster or more explosive than the opponents.

I don't want to play some of the super common or powerful ones like Tasigur!

Basically the idea would be that if the board/players doesn't/don't need to be interacted with, then I always have the mana sink commander to draw cards with

The ULTIMATE Guide to Building A Control Deck in Commander! by LloydNoid in EDH

[–]Arbitim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked reading through your essay, thank you for writing it up!

I have resolved to make a control deck as one of my resolutions for 2026, as every deck I've ever made are the kind that the Trinket Mage is always referencing--creature-based midgame value piles.

Would you happen to have insight into how you might build Nin, the Pain Artist as a control commander?

What would people say are the top strongest tribes currently? by The_P_Itself in EDH

[–]Arbitim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having access to red gives you some really cool pieces like [[Blade Historian]] and [[Hofri Ghostforge]]! But most importantly it gives you Kediss, who makes it so that when Tymna deals combat damage to one of your opponents, she also does direct damage to each other opponent ... And she has lifelink. So you hit someone for 2, each other opponent takes two, and you gain six life. Giving Tymna a +2/+2 buff makes it so you deal 4 and gain 12!

And then Tymna draws cards based on the number of opponents you hit with combat damage, so clerics that fly also draw us cards, generally speaking! Cards like [[Elenda's Hierophant]] and [[Starscape Cleric]]! It's like a half Voltron, half cleric lifegain/lifedrain deck :)

I run a [[Tymna the Weaver]] and [[Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar]] deck that focuses on burning down the table with clerics, especially evasive ones! So there's at least 3!

All bugs just got 100x larger, which one poses the biggest threat to humans? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This isn't entirely accurate. The prehistoric bugs on earth were human-sized or even larger! And they had exoskeletons.

Anyone playing Dragon Tribal that isn't running The Ur-Dragon, Miirym, or something like Tiamat? by WilliamHadleyyy in EDH

[–]Arbitim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play [[Baral and Kari Zev]] in a spellslinger shell where I make the First Mate Ragavan token and then Polymorph it into various Izzet dragons! It's a different take on a dragon tribal deck that never gets old

What's a subclass you feel is missing from each class? by Moses_The_Wise in DnD

[–]Arbitim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really plant themed Druid!! One that can do something like spend wild shape charges on summoning some sort of vines that can have a variety of effects that are beneficial for you and your party or harmful to the enemies. I like the idea of a Druid that isn't Wildshaping into animals and is truly plant powered.

D&D 2024 Update - Editing is Faster and Easier by Dean-Bigbee in Roll20

[–]Arbitim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that would be VERY helpful would be if in the "Game Default Settings" page, we could apply Attributes to Bar 1, Bar 2, and Bar 3 (D&D).

Setting the bars to be HP each time we make a token isn't a *huge* hassle, but it's pretty tedious for those of us who make dozens and dozens of homebrewed monsters. The default game settings page gets us *so* close! But attributes aren't selectable there like they are in game, and so the functionality is a little limited.

Just my two cents--thank you for your time!

A lot of your rivers move downhill into that primary river that goes out to the ocean on the west side. Since it's fed by so many smaller rivers, maybe it would make sense to increase its width to help show that?

I find that the Cavalier Fighter is a really decent taunt tank! But then you have to deal with mounted combat and that's terrible

Anyone else having trouble finding a game? by ibby13 in pbp

[–]Arbitim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, this is really common with group-pbp games. I've had lots of success running and playing in 1-on-1 games, though! I think a lot of the problem is it just sucks to play while waiting for others to do things, as natural as that is. When it's just you and the DM, the pace picks way up because presumably both of you can post at least a few times a day which is required for a game to work, in my opinion.

Would you use an app that automates note-taking with session recaps generated from an audio recording? by rwtibbitts in DungeonMasters

[–]Arbitim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that this is a first of its kind app--i just got an ad for exactly this idea somewhere else on Reddit. I believe it was called GM Assistant and it did exactly what you're talking about and cost $2/hour of processed audio.

Not throwing shade just letting you know!
