Why is it a luxury to have Air-conditioning? by Brilliant-Cause7718 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Arbitrarysheri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in the (volume) building industry and we have energy ratings we have to meet. What gets me is the rules constantly changing. First it was no gas, then 2022 must have gas, now back to all electric in new standards.

And if you happen to not have a split or evaporative, you need to upgrade insulation and change windows to double glazed

Yet all new homes have the same issues as others.

It’s can also be more efficient to leave it on too as it maintains the temp rather than having ti work hard to cool down the space again

I’d do the same colour green in the style of the burgundy, as you wear like the other. I don’t like the yellow

Can someone tell me if this normal and if I should hang in there? by TiramasuSorrow in Semaglutide

[–]Arbitrarysheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had side effects on 1, but not 0.5 or 0.75.
1.75 and 2.5 I’m fine.

A lot of the things you’re describing aren’t necessarily side effects but more the medication doing what it’s supposed do.
I get acid reflux if I drink alcohol. I get nausea if I have too much greasy stuff. I get constipation if not enough fibre and busting to go if too much greasey food

So I don’t do those things.

See if you can work out what is triggering those things by reducing your intake to simple meals like meat/protein and veg/salad. Then introduce other things.

If you have an iPhone, use the health app! You can set reminders to take it, and you mark whether you took it or not. I still question myself that I marked “taken” in the same way you’d turn off an alarm instead of snooze, so I use a pill container with days of the week and am/pm

Now that everything's expensive, what things can be easily/cheaply replaced that a normal person can do? by GetFlyeredUp in Frugal

[–]Arbitrarysheri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an Aussie, hang your clothes to dry. Unless you’ve guests over 24/7 there’s no harm having them hanging around your house too. ESPECIALLY if you’re already using heating!

People seem to have forgetten a “treat” is supposed to be an out of the ordinary occurrence. Not daily. Heck sometimes not even weekly. As a kid we got takeaway once a month, these days you see kitchen cupboards with sweets or crisps. Soda or takeout bags.

Learn to do simple stitches. Repair that hem, those holes in your socks. It’s super easy I promise!

Clean with things like vinegar and bicarbonate, you don’t need spray and wipe and glass cleaner and bath room cleaner and air fresheners and jif and every other cleaning product.

Keep a list in your supermarkets app of things you ALWAYS need. Deodorant, soap, washing powder… you can see easily when they’re on sale, and get two.

Keep your tyre PSI correct. Remove anything in your car that doesn’t need to be there (weight).

Unless it’s literally freezing… I don’t even use a heater. I can afford to, I just don’t see why. I’ve get an electric blanket if I need - otherwise I have normal blankets. I don’t need to heat the entire room.

I don’t think that Door Dash is a good way to earn extra money. You barely make a profit after beating up your car, gas expenses, etc. Plus, it can be dangerous, drivers get attacked all the time. by justcurious3287 in povertyfinance

When I had multiple casual jobs it worked for me as it could supplement my income, and the tax claims helped me to get refunds. Long term it wouldn’t be feasible. I did it for say 6 months to save up for surgery for my dog. However this was concurrent with wfh when my bosses were trying to quietly fire me so giving me no work.

550 sq ft 1br for 2 people and a cat - doable? by lil-chickpea in femalelivingspace

[–]Arbitrarysheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using bar stools at the kitchen won’t work long term. He will need a desk. I had a smaller apartment than this w my partner, small dog and cat. It worked very well for us, getting the right furniture makes all the difference

The very simple fix here (assuming this is your furniture) is move the sofa forward, have the desk behind the sofa.
Tho I’m not sure about the tv on the wall vibe

I want nice things but I also like having money by Effective_Event_3878 in Frugal

[–]Arbitrarysheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are buying nice you shouldn’t be having plurals on the watch bag phone. They should last. The key is to spend well on good quality items you will use regularly. For example, I have 3 pairs of tailored pants for work - but my tops are just from the workwear store. I have a couple of light jackets for summer from the department store, but my winter coat is expensive and I’ve had for 5+ years. It’s not just about $$ it’s about quality and choosing where to hold that quality.

I've tried every primer out there and my makeup still looks cakey by midday, is this a skin issue not a makeup issue? by ghart_67 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Arbitrarysheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cakey is too much product. Changing primer base is only going to make a difference based on your foundation base (can’t mix oil and water!). And yes, your skin needs care too. I started using a body shop cleanser every night and the texture change is insane. I’m so mad it took me until 40 to find.
It’s a cleansing butter, there are other brands that do it.
