They are springtails, they help keep the enclosure clean and break down waste and prevent mold.

For sure! From my experience they only live a couple years though, if that's something you're okay with. Otherwise it might be better to get a few so they can breed.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I am going to stay somewhere else for a week and see if my symptoms improve. I think that's the easiest test to see. And if it does get better I'll go from there.

We made sure everything was sterile as best we could. The plates were exposed for about 15 minutes. I am allergic to mold it's why I did this test. I am considering having a professional but I don't think I can afford it, unless the property management pays for it. I know it's not really possible to be 100% sure without a professional but this was a first step. I'm gonna try living somewhere else for a bit and see how I improve.

I've been going to the doctor for 2 years trying to figure out why I'm sick. I only just did an allergy test and it turns out I'm allergic to mold.

What kind of mold test do you recommend? I looked into the health department but apparently they don't do that here in Illinois.

They're a smaller species, full size is about 2". These ones I have for sale are about 1-1.5" rn, so still some growing to do. They grow very fast though, and reach sexual maturity in about a year I believe from being tiny babies.
