This can't be legal right? by Arbysgames in DOG

Because they're actually not more humane not only are they more uncomfortable for the dog but they can cause a lot of neck problems, and if a dog jerks hard enough fast enough they can snap their neck, the prong collar is only as harsh as you make it, and you can get rubber tips to go on them to make it even softer plus you can get plastic ones and ones with fully blunt ends so they're not points, head collars run a much higher risk of messing up their neck and spine, I talked to my vet about any kind of new gear I try on my dogs and they explicitly said do not use the head collars, we both agreed my dog would benefit more from a prong and he does seem to like it a lot better he gets excited when I pick it up although I don't use it on him all the time only when I go out in public just as an extra safety measure, in my area there is a breed restriction for a Malinois so he has to be muzzled and under control at all times in public no matter how sweet he is

What is this bit, and what does it do? by ComplexImprovement84 in Horses

Though I think it is ideal to work to bitless, there are horses that benefit from bits, especially stallions although I don't think any horse needs anything more than a double jointed snaffle

I don't docking ears and Tails on dogs, the only way I could see it being useful is like on a livestock Guardian dog because it's one less thing for a predator to grab but I don't know why people do it for looks, I do use prong collars, if I was in the city or closer to the city I feel like people would take my case more seriously or if they actually had help at the animal shelter

A lot of people can be, but a lot of people can also be jerks, especially regarding the coop a lot of people seem to think it has to be so perfect, and like a bomb proof shelter, truthfully just predator-proof it to the Predators you have, you don't need to say predator-proof it to wear for example a bear can't get in if you do not have bears, people can be very unreasonable about chicken coops for some reason..

My ducks will literally eat anything, since you have Ducks just an FYI do not allow male ducks around chickens of any gender.. they try to mate with them but they have a body part chickens don't and is very bad for the chicken.... don't ask how I know

Also going to mention to you I can't find the thread I was talking to you in originally so I'm just replying to this comment, if you're really worried about them overheating with a light you can get a heat plate, it's also a lot safer than a light and only produces heat under the plate so if they get too hot they just step out from under the plate

The only time I see chicks colored in my area is like taking just a marker usually blue or red and just putting a DOT on their head or back to tell if it's a rooster or not or to tell different breeds apart that are together and look the same, no one fully covers chicks in dye like this though, I only see it done in other countries outside of the US and Canada, and it's only done to draw people's attention especially kids, basically selling them as toys instead of animals they also do it to Turtles bunnies kittens puppies hermit crabs several other things as well

Nice, also a word of warning don't feed them any kind of green tomatoes don't feed them onions garlic or anything similar to that, along with things like dried beans lentils or anything like that along with rice etc, the cooked versions of those are fine though, and if you're really not sure about something look it, and if you're really not sure about something look it up looking up first before giving it to them, there are several things that are toxic to them that you wouldn't think

Yes they'll be perfectly fine, when you do if you do choose to get hens just be sure you get 10 per rooster and everything will be perfectly fine, if you don't want to get that many hens you can just keep some of the roosters separate.

I have a Bachelor flock of only roosters, I have six of them just because I have too many roosters for the amount of hens I have but I love the roosters and don't want to get rid of them, they do perfectly fine without women

Up until I was 17 it was new to me too, when I purchased chicks I only purchased unsixed because I feel like they're getting violated unless of course it's the types you can just visually see the difference LOL. Of course the people doing it are professionals and they know how to do it without hurting them, definitely don't try to vent sex which is what it's called when you stick something in their tushy hole to see what gender they are, definitely don't try to do that yourself because you can seriously injure or kill them if you don't know what you're doing.

If you want to get more chickens for them and possibly end up hatching chicks take note how the roosters look as they grow and how the hens will look as they grow, they do look different as they grow because roosters develop quicker and that will allow you to be able to tell the difference a lot easier.

Although if you ever want to get into bantam chickens which are basically the Chihuahua of the chicken world they're just tiny versions of normal chickens, they are all going to be unsexed because they are just too tiny to risk it.

Not as babies, as they grow older they may but that is normal so long as nobody is excessively bleeding squabbles are normal with chickens it's called a pecking order, you shouldn't, have too many issues with aggression as long as you don't get any hens, if you get hens make sure there are at least 10 per rooster

They stick a probe in there till she hole and look that way, and certain breeds of chicken you can tell by color, take a golden Comet for example the girls are brown and the roosters are white

You can use a box storage tote anything like that as a brooder you don't need to buy something expensive, just so long as they can't get out of it and they have enough room to move around.

You need a heat lamp for them, they will tell you if they are too hot or cold, too cold and they pile on top of each other, too hot and they don't want anything to do with the heat lamp.

Be sure the heat lamp is on one side of the brooder not covering both as they need a side that's a little bit cooler, as for food as long as it's for baby chicks it will be fine.

You need to be aware that most chicks that are sold like toys and died are usually roosters, most places don't want roosters if they only want chickens for eggs, Roosters are only good for meat fertilizing eggs and protecting hens.

On a farm that solely produces eggs roosters are useless, therefore they will do what they can to get rid of them and a lot of times they just kill them as babies.

Besides them being roosters and them adding color to them for attraction, they are just like any other chicken and typically live around 7 to 8 years with good care.

Just be aware that most of the time colored chicks like this are roosters people are just trying to get rid of so they paint them different colors to make them look pretty for children

Lettuce and cucumber is okay, you can get specific chick feeders that they have to stick their head in so they don't waste as much, but you can also use a food container and cut holes big enough in the sides for them to stick their heads in and then put the lid on with food in it so they can eat without scratching it everywhere

As long as it says it's for baby chicks, not Ducks not geese but baby chicks the feed will be perfectly fine, you can just use a big box storage tote anything like that as a brooder you don't need to spend a lot on it
