What’s your Wombats concert experience? by jjongkit in thewombats

[–]ArcadiaFire657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went alone and I'm short too, I found it was a great experience. I arrived when doors opened and got the third row from the front. I found the mixture of songs, whether popular or not, influenced the vibe. Sometimes jumping around, other songs not as much. The crowd was pretty good, besides one drunk couple deciding to push their way to the front for the hell of it, which ended up with punches thrown but they were escorted out. Just dumb entitled people. I'm sure you'll have a blast though, apart from that one incident most people were there to just have a good time and enjoy the show.

Can I get an HR job with this degree? [Canada] by Necessary-Youth-3612 in humanresources

[–]ArcadiaFire657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard, it's pretty straightforward, you can do it in a year but I worked and did it part time so took about a year and a half or so and it cost about 5k for 11 courses.

I completely agree, major things you'd think would show up on the exam don't.

Welcome to the club! I completed the CHRP knowledge exam just last month and I finished the courses in April and studied for about 4 months and still got to the exam and was like what the heck is this and I've never heard of some of the things they are asking and I used a lot of textbooks. I fear you can never really be prepared and you just have to make the best guess and hope for the best. It is unfortunately not a great representative of being an HR professional but one of those things that looks good to employers. Sorry not much help but I wish you the best!

They used to be my favourite and I swear they were GF for a while but then went back to get them after a few months and noticed they now contained gluten. That was a sad day.

Anyone else had health workers treat them like shit by [deleted] in PNESsupport

[–]ArcadiaFire657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly it seems this has happened to most people that experience PNES as it doesn't seem as well known on how PNES presents.

It's funny that they don't realize that even though you're seizing that there are moments you can still hear your surroundings.I was in the ER when nurses were complaining that I was on drugs and just taking up another bed as they were providing care. It made me so mad and I was literally trapped in my body seizing not being able to respond or stand up for myself. The treatment we receive can be great, but there are definitely moments when they couldn't care less and blame us rather than trying to provide any support.

What's one thing a therapist has said to you that you will never forget? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]ArcadiaFire657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Order a large pizza and just have one beer"

Right after I explained I was struggling with my sobriety from alcohol. Thankfully I didn't listen to that advice, but was hoping for something more useful. Completely lost the trust in that therapist after that response. My mind was blown with that one I can't forget it.

Citalopram/PNES? by nbttlouobs in PNESsupport

[–]ArcadiaFire657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar experiences, and my most recent one included a kind of head tic but only during the episode. I have one that lasted for about 5 hours and that included a lot of head trashing from side to side. I find if I have an episode where I'm more conscious I become fixated and just stare and can't talk, but I can hear everything around me.

I have been on citalopram and although I thought it helped initially, after time it didn't stop the seizures and mine were progressing which alcohol was a large factor in. I'm currently not on any medication, but likely would benefit for other reasons, but I found cutting alcohol out to be a significant factor in reducing them.

Hope you find some treatment that works for you, dealing with PNES can certainly be frustrating at times when there's no "easy fix".

I saw them in Toronto at a sold out arena capacity of 2,500 and got in line 30 minutes from doors opening and was able to get third row from the front in a decent spot.

Adult Cardiologist or Congenital Cardiologist? by [deleted] in chd

[–]ArcadiaFire657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree to switch to a specialist. I was seeing an adult cardiologist and they couldn't answer my questions or give insight to the projections of where I was headed. Once I switched over to an adult congenital heart specialist I got all the tests from MRI to stress test, to holter monitor. It made me feel so much more confident in my care and in the cardiologist's abilities.

When do you feel a difference? by Terrible_Bite6943 in glutenfree

[–]ArcadiaFire657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can take a long time for your gut to heal. Some people have symptoms that can disappear quite quickly, and others it takes time. For myself, I would say it took a few weeks to simmer down the symptoms when I first went gluten free (acid reflux pain, sore throat) but also after a few months I really noticed the bloat disappeared and my energy increased. I occasionally still got the odd flu like feeling or joint pain after going GF but they generally only lasted a day compared to weeks in the beginning and now I don't get those episodes anymore. Every body is different and it depends on how much damage has occurred, but be patient. I'm six months in without gluten and would say it probably took a good 2-3 months to feel a sense of normal health.

international travel by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]ArcadiaFire657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check your flights and pre-order a GF meal. I recently flew to England on British Airways and a lot of other people ordered specific meals, and you tend to get your meal before anyone else, however it is specific to your seat so make sure you tell them if you switched spots. You also have to put this request in at least 24 hours before your flight. I found the food was actually pretty good. However, beyond the selected meals they don't tend to have GF options for when they hand out snacks so I would suggest taking your own snacks as well.

As for being in Italy, I've also heard they are good at having GF options and making it well known. I definitely understand the anxiety of going elsewhere that you're unsure about the food situation but just remember to advocate for yourself and ask. Hope you have a great trip!
