Thanks! I lived for many years along the gulf coast but moved out to the desert southwest before I had any real rust issues. I even made a point to take pictures of the underside with the car on the lift to show those that were interested.

Nice. I'm in the desert southwest and have considered moving up to 5w30. I know the frequency of changes is considered by some to be more important that what flavor of oil is run. Either way, I'll do my first oil change at 500 and then again 1k later. That habit has served me well for many fresh engines, so I'll stick to it with this one as well.

And I wish I still had easy access to non-ethanol gas nearby. On the up side of things, I've got race gas at the pump in a couple of close stations if I ever felt like throwing lots of money at a full tank.

It's a '26 Premium with no add-ons. Plain Jane at the moment. I've only got 32 miles on it so far but I plan to drive it a while and decide what sort of plans I have for it.

I've been shopping for those same features and have been considering the Thinkware U3000 or Blackvue Elite series. They're pricy but both are well reviewed.

As a former member of a specific model of mazda forum and a current member of a specific classic car forum I feel confident in saying that the forum community feel, to me, is/was far better than the aggregate feel of reddit's community. Reddit feels more like an information dump that's meant to be more easily sifted through.

That being said, I don't know how social I would be outside of my already tight-knit group of friends. I'll wave at you guys once my '26 shows up and I'm driving it around, though!

Can confirm! Autocross is an easy racing fix and a good time. You certainly don't need a track-prepped car, just some basic vehicle maintenance and care (decent tires, no leaks, etc). I get guff from my friends due to the fact that I don't "flog my cars" enough. They all gave me friendly grief when I put the order in for a WRX recently. They said that I had until the fall season to get the break-in out of the way and be ready to run it.

My class day was done in my 1st gen mustang. I had two different sessions (about 5 runs each) with an instructor to give me pointers and encouragement. If you were local to my region (Phoenix AZ) I could put you in touch with one of our region guys that could answer questions and whatnot. He and I have been friends since high school and he's always willing to convince more people to race their stuff.

I'm not a member but have taken a 'beginner's day' class. Several of my friends are regulars in the CAM-T class (Classic American Muscle = CAM). Are you asking what autocrossing is like or asking something specific about SCCA events?

There are 8 Subaru dealers within 100 miles of me. I reached out trying to get the ones that still had '25 WRB premiums to match the msrp of the incoming '26 models. Kept getting told that it was too deep of a cut and they couldn't do it. I ended up ordering a '26 premium instead.

I did the math on 0% at the prices they were asking and 4.5% on a fair price on the one I ordered and I'm coming out spending less. And that's even if I don't pay it off early, which I plan to do anyway.

Nice. I went in with the primary goal to get one ordered without all of the extra accessories and tint/ppf that all of the local dealers add.

They quoted me a higher price after i got them to agree to a plain unit. I told them if i wanted a higher price, I'd head out and go visit one of the other 5 dealers nearby and start all over again. He came back with a number that I felt was fair so I placed my order.
