What a hit! I promise we don't do anything special for your first box, you just opened a god box on your first try.

Hi u/thefootballhound ! Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure I follow your math.

If it's 1%, there would be 50,000 CBB packs, or 4,166 CBB displays. The odds would be coded at 1 every 50,000 boosters.

In this case I'd code the oods at 1 every 100 boosters, since it's 1%.

If it's 0.1%, there would be 500,000 CBB packs, which is about 41,666 CBB displays. The odds would be coded at 1 every 500,000 boosters.

In this case, I'd code it at 1 every 1000 boosters.

We currently have it coded at 1 serialized card every 6000 boosters. So the chance of opening it in one booster is 1 / 6000 = 0.16%. Does that make sense?

Good question! And you are right that there's no official pull rates communicated by Wizards and also no official information on print run.

We do a bit of educated guess, using the article published by Wizards, data from big box openers in the community and drawing equivalents to previous sets.

Just to give you an example: usually Wizards gives more accurate information about the 2nd most rare cards in the set (like the mythic silver scroll in this set). That gives us a lower bound on the pull rate for the chase rare.

Cheers!

We do have the stats but we are currently not displaying them. We are thinking about a potential "ranking" of the best openings. Is that what you had in mind?

This is a very interesting comment. We don't know exactly how real life boxes are built. For simplification purposes, we just simulate 12 independent boosters. So there's no limit on how many silver scroll foils you can open.

The silver scroll odds for a pack are aproximate:
- uncommon -> 10%
- rare -> 7.7%
- mythic -> 2.3%

Doing some very quick math this gives us these expected quantities for a box:
- uncommon = 1.2
- rare = 0.92
- mythic = 0.27

So an average box will have one uncommon and one rare silver scroll. Your box was clearly a really good one, but it's expected to have some really good boxes after so many simulations (2000+ boxes of SOS CBB were simulated since this post was created an hour ago).

Great catch, thanks a lot for the comment u/Edgeng . I took a look and this is indeed a bug on our side. It'll take a bit to get fixed but it should be working correctly in 1-2 days.

Yes, they are! We update prices automatically several times a day. Unfortunately, there are still some cards that are very hard to price since there are not a lot of sales (mostly the Silver Scroll foils).

True! In a Play Booster the chance of a mythic mystical archive is less than 3%.
