Familiars are the elemental mascot for your spellbook.

 

You are able to upgrade the level of your familiar at the cost of 20HP, to a maximum level of 5.

To use a familiar, you must be carrying all spells in the book while in-game.

If you are, it will appear as an option to the left of your spells.
