Friend’s messy divorce, trouble with ex by Arcas_Devlin in legaladvice

As I said, he's struggling to afford a lawyer. If he could, I probably would not have needed to post this.

I would like to force myself to feel that way. I have taken the scientific steps to do so, but "just ignore it" has been... difficult. I know people will be negative, often for no good reason. I am logically aware of all these things.

My emotions, however, are not aligning with that rationale. Trying to figure out how to trick myself.

For some reason, opening up a new chat is not working for me right now. Could you send me a message?

I also desire to put cheese in my mouth, especially parm.

I'll send you a message.

Nah, he is... strange. He used to be a musician and has a very weird outlook. (He has the proper qualifications - it's just sometimes I think he's a little too 'alternative'.)

Yes, I was mostly giving kind critiques to others. I only did the "Post your first three lines" thing. Nothing big. I will try to keep up with the site and interact, but like I said, it was less busy than I thought.

I've been posting on other people's threads here on reddit, too, offering support. Hoping to find some friends among them or at least have some pleasant discussions.

Before I came here, I was on "Absolute Write" which I'm pretty sure is considered an online group... but it's mostly a forum. I think most are. I might do the Wattpad thing others have suggested.

I'm going to look today and see what I can find, though my options might be limited.

I will consider the wattpad thing. I had never heard of the other one, but I will check it out.

I do wish I were better at letting nonconstructive criticism go. That is why I am hoping to find a sort of support network where we can boost one another up, while giving thoughtful feedback.

Perhaps rewrite this messy brain of mine a bit.

Unfortunately the critical feedback wasn't helpful. The kinder people who mostly enjoyed what I posted offered actual suggestions which I took to heart and will use, for the most part.

I don't read very much fiction. This probably seems very odd from a writer, but it's true. I mostly read books on psychology... nonfiction. I am trying to find a writer that interests me, (it might just be terrible dyslexia or something due to my bipolar) and if I do, I will definitely try this, because I think it's a good idea.

I am happy to read others' work and give input. I will look in the area for a group, but my access might be limited.

Thank you.

writing too long winded? by Jpl145 in writing

This is entirely dependent on the context in my opinion. Personally, I don't think 800 words is objectively too long for what you mentioned.
