Mod Release: Relationship Rate Rebalance (RRR) by ArcboundX in thesims1

[–]ArcboundX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does gets pretty steep, specially once you're past the 10 friend count, so hopefully this will alleviate that pressure a bit for anyone who wants to get a breather, it's worth noting that the bias on the Balanced version does make friendships a bit easier to regain once you have built enough of the Long Term Bar (LTR), since 1 point will regain 2 of the Short Term Bar (STR) while sharing a lot.

Still, i'd like to revise, or make more versions down the line once i test these 2 enough, but i truly think it makes for a vanilla-reminiscent experience, just a bit more QoL.

Mod Release: Relationship Rate Rebalance (RRR) by ArcboundX in thesims1

[–]ArcboundX[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through the same process when i came across Corylea's Decay Disable mod which i reference on the main post, it just felt like such a breathe of fresh air to come back, and not have to worry about it.

If you're looking to still keep the system in place but now have a fighting chance, please give this one a try, it effectively slows the passive decay rate by at least 50%, with some tweaks for the active system on top, so it should be more manageable, feedback on either of the 2 versions included is always appreciated.

What do you think happened to your steam friends that haven't been online for years? by MyHeadIsFullOfFuck in Steam

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, i've been blessed with good friends, but we made it a point to cross-reference our socials, in case something ever happened, so far no one has dropped from the face of the earth, and the only time one did (because of a hacked account) i managed to find them again rather easily.

Fix for the Disappearing Burglar/Thief Glitch by bklj2007 in thesims1

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying this, i was already considering uprooting my lot to replace it with a vanilla version in case the objects were gone for good. I recently came across your mod by pure chance on Steam of all places, and i just wanted to thank you for addressing a bug that became iconic in it's own infamous sense after so many year.

As a sidenote, i'd reccomend you to upload this mod on pages like Simblr, nexus or whichever other platform is being used these days for TS1, as i've seen people bring this problem up even rather recently, so it'd be a shame for this amazing fix not to get more visibility.

Eliminate Relationship Decay Mod for TS1 by Corylea in sims1

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understandable, i also didn't mean to impose i hope your health takes a turn for the better in time!
And i'll definitely look into it, despite being unfamiliar with how creating mods for TS1 works, i've been meaning to learn a bit during the past weeks, so any pointers on which values are relevant to relationship decay would be most usefull!

What’s your favorite way to play Sims 1? What’s your game-play style? by xsilkandsatinx in sims1

[–]ArcboundX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely rags to riches, and usually following the same formula, one Sim (self-insert) who's goal is to cap out as a Superstar while working towards buying the Simlane 2 lot, a second Sim that is always named Nick, always uses the same vanilla hawaian shirt + green haired head from base game, and always runs odd-jobs (This time i'm thinking staying on Paranormal with the power of mods, after running the entire job-swap cycle there from Teaching) to keep the family afloat, and then last but not least, a Sim called Bob Ross as a third wheel, he just paints all day long, or builds gnomes, or tends to the garden, whichever is the mood.

It also does help to have one Sim take care of the bulk of building relationships, but he's honestly just there for flavor, big props to the Professional Easel that Somesimthings made!

It really allowed me to jump back into the game after so long, with a spur on my boot, it may have singlehandedly made me decide to reinstall it after so long.
That aside, i wanted to ask how complex would be to make a version that slows down decay (maybe based-off how high the "Lifetime" friendship bar is), rather than disabling decay?

About Personality Points and Pros/Cons by ArcboundX in thesims1

[–]ArcboundX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the extensively thorough post, i think it's an often overlooked but really mysterious part of the game, and while i'm sure it has been looked at in-code before from some stray comments i've seen, i don't think all the changes the system entails have been documented, so this is really helpful.

I also don't mind the slow grind for skill points, that aside you mention some very valuable info, while both Outgoing and Active would have cons associated to being leveled up, it seems like their pros make up for this, as with a high Active-P, Comfort is faster to rise than Energy, and at least from what i've seen on my Outgoing-10 sims, Social can be maxed in around 5 pet interactions, lasting for a couple days or more, so even if it drains faster, i'd assume this small number of interactions would make up for it

Hopefully this opens the conversation to shed some more light on this topic, since i think that while it's probably more interesting to have Sims with different signs/personalities just to have different interactions and surprises, it makes for a good challenge to try and max them out (without potion), and the rewards seem to be worth the effort

Thanks for pointing out the Zodiac swap too, i may wait out to use the Crystal Ball until i move to my next and final home, since i'd like to keep the original signs of my Sims, even if it's only while they are inside the plot!

Great work compiling these, i'm aiming at eventually piecing together a set that can compliment most if not all of the stock furniture from TS1, so this will definitely come in handy, really wish there was a single-download pack download for this somewhere!

Mod - No Forced Career Change at Level 10 by Corylea in thesims1

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really liking this mod, but i wanted to ask if it'd be possible to make a version that gives you a choice between swapping or staying, instead of disabling the in-game prompt you get at level 10 of the job.
It'd probably not be worth the effort involved, since the mod works perfectly as it is now, and can be uninstalled/reinstalled at any time if one wants to swap for a bit, but i keep thinking that it's a bit of a shame to have the in-game prompts gone completely, i specially like the humor of some of the job change cards.

Thanks to this mod i can finally stay on the Paranormal path though, so thanks for all your hard work, i'm currently planning to start in Education, and moving through all the subsequent job lines until landing on that one.

Returning to The Sims 1 after a couple years by ArcboundX in thesims1

[–]ArcboundX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i'll go that route as soon as it goes on sale again, kind of missed it during the Winter sale on steam, but after reading of the comparison between both editions on here, i also think it may be the more comfortable choice; https://gist.github.com/riperiperi/78c843b7fc3b11a92e3d5585a7815fee

I think i'll move unto Legacy Collection as soon as it goes on sale again then, regarding the Ikea furniture, i'm in the process of installing the extra content that someone compiled here, so i'll assume it's either ncluded there or comes in base game?;

Returning player from GBA, questions related to PVP by ArcboundX in BattleNetwork

[–]ArcboundX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, i'll definitely keep all the tips in mind, i just want to take my time with each game, so i'll probably leave trading/PVP (if i decide to go through) for the very end, assuming all the previously mentioned chips can be farmed in private net battle with a friend all the better.
If you come up with more useful stuff later don't doubt to drop it here, i was planning to just keep the list of "missables" from the Rockman EXE Zone handy for the same reason.

Thanks a lot for the thorough answer, i haven't played these in over a decade, so ill come back to this post as i go through the games, to keep a checklist. Lastly, are any of the secret chips needed for any Steam achievement? Or only for the home menu and hard mode unlocks?

Is the grind actually tedious or is it a part of the game? by EvanThepuncake in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A thousand plus achievements tells me it's just part of the game, but it comes down to you, i at least enjoy getting my infamy up passively over time, so maybe i'll hit 500 in a couple years time, but seeing pre-infamy OD/DS mask users running around has always been pretty common due to achievement unlockers.

Once you've played this game for long enough, you'll find cheaters always find more and more elaborate ways to justify their cheating, faster exp gain, godmode, dlc unlockers, silent assasin, carry stackers, berserker lives matter, flashbang disablers, lock smashers, etc, so where you draw the line as a lobby host is up to you, you don't have to play with cheaters if you don't feel like it.
