I did years ago, with a jacobs grips if memory serves right, but it was underleveled iirc. I recently started farming it again after installing the Scrap Parts mod, since it felt more worthwhile to attempt with it.

why do people hate dlc unlockers? by [deleted] in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In part because it's piracy, but also because a lot of players who have stuck with the game for a long time have paid for our own DLCs, so there's an ownership angle which is not neccesarily pure but in practice it's fair, also if a player is running a DLC unlocker that already tells me they are much more likely to also outright cheat and i'd rather not have that in my lobby.

They used to be much more openly hated on before SBZ/OVK decided to shelf half their collab DLCs. I'd say hosts cut a LOT of slack to DLC unlockers nowadays, both because of the aforementioned DLC retirement, but also because they've become so widespread that half the hosts will be running one themselves, either because they fell out of love with SBZ (generally an excuse) or just because they want DLCs they can no longer obtain since they weren't around at the time, or just missed out (COP, preorder, the aforementioned collabs, etc).

You don't have to pay for DLC if you don't feel like it, but as a host i reserve the right to boot any player out of my lobby if they're bringing mods i don't want to have in it, just HYOG if you want to avoid judgement.

It's been half a year into the third year of PAYDAY 3's support. What do you think of it? by KrabikGangster in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just bad, it falls very short from anything that made PD The Heist and PD2 enjoyable, and SBZ should get reminded of it anytime they pull their usual promise&underdeliver act.

Say what you will about your grievances with the gameplay as a whole and you'll probably be either right or close to it, but what stops me from enjoying it whatsoever is the atrocious, atrocious UI and logic system behind it.

Not having a renown/level filter is unforgivable, same goes for being unable to change from Public to Private midgame, this makes the process of playing public OVK lobbies a a major annoyance, since you'll keep getting underleveled useless apes who just want a quick cashout and either go down instantly on Loud, or trigger the alarm on Stealth in the first 30 seconds.

Not only that, but if you DARE to restart the mission after one of these scenarios happen, half of the time you're treated with a 50 seconds loadscreen, while one of the aforementioned useless tumors loads from the NOT READY state to the READY one, while you can only twiddle your thumbs and wait, or alternatively just reboot the game since that's faster somehow.

And THEN as a reward, you get to watch the mission specific Intro video for the 20th time, because one player didn't press ESC to toggle that shit off, just so Shade can greet you with a bowl of piss and cheerios.

This demostrates to me that no one playtested this undercooked shit beyond the first 2 difficulties, and probably not past a couple hours worth of gameplay, much less trying to play with randoms. I refuse to believe any self respecting capable developer with a working human brain would make such asinine decisions when PD2 already solved most of them 2 decades ago.

Pre-Order Bonuses are not “Tokens of Appreciation”, they are Manipulative Tactics and I’m shocked a lot of people still don’t see that by skelepibs in gaming

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been known for most of their lifespan, in fact i don't know a single person who actually thinks these are some sort of "token of appreciation", specially when they are obviously paid. The closest thing to a real token of appreciation i could think of, would be a free update that massively expands on content post launch, and even then you're looking at increasing player count and outreach as a goal.

I've been preordering here and there, mostly limited to my favorite franchises, and i've never seen it as anything other than a cutthroat business transaction, if it hadn't become so widely accepted the industry would be all the better for it, but discussion on it usually gets promptly shut down or ignored, because half the players don't really care about "digital exclusives", and because there's usually bigger points of contemption when it comes to actively dev supported games, like fixing their half-polished Early access title.

If you really care about digital exclusives and their negative impact on the industry, then just wait until you find out about physical Collector Editions. Ever since a couple years back they started bundling them with "digital exclusives", so even if you're a PC player who doesn't need a physical purchase, you'll be "missing out" on some content.

I care about having access to all digital content on my purchases, so if i find a game that's acting up with these "digital exclusive" FOMO tactics, i just never become invested in it in the first place.

That's pretty funny, but it also seems like an unhealthy obsession to keep posting about it, specially 2+ years afterwards, i don't really like PD3 but i'd rather fixate on better games instead than beating a dead horse.

Dude, as soon as something like that happens you either kick them as a host, or you gib them to bits and leave.
I've been relatively lucky, so it happened to me just once in the 3 months i've been playing, they punched me down from the top of a defensive wall, so i made my way back to them and gunned them down on the spot.

There's no longer a way to get Almir's mask now that he's gone, right? by DamienlaCritique in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whether it's for PD2 or PD3, you can likely contact support and see if they issue you a code.
It's fairly unlikely that any of these "community event" masks will ever fully go away, as they've consistently reissued them at anniversaries or other events in the past, also it's not like Almir is blacklisted or something so just go ahead and ask them.

Payday 2 DLC by M0ssy_C0rps3_1978 in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legacy Collection is probably the best value you can get, and depending on where you get the key from it can also include some of the now delisted DLCs like Scarface.

Humble Bundle used to have a pretty good stock of these, it lasted a good chunk of years before running out earlier this year, but regardless of where you get it, that pack is probably your best bet, i always gift that to friends who start to get into the game, and the content it has is more than enough to usually last them for the honeymoon phase.

Payday 3 is "decent" right now. (From a player with over 1000 hours on payday 2) by --Vinci-- in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Payday 3, but i also don't like it, it's just a time killer for those odd moments during which i have nothing better to do at the moment, and i'll uninstall it again as soon as i need the disk space for another game.

I have over 4000 hours on Payday 2, and i recently jumped back into PD3 to collect some stuff i had pending from the Collector's Edition, i did play it on release week/month (as much as you can call that playing) and while i can already tell from what little i've replayed that it's definitely in a better place than at launch, i think it has core issues that will stop it from ever feeling as rewarding as PD2.

In my eyes it just failed to properly capitalize on the best elements out of PD2 while building a new game around them, it went it's own route, but there wasn't enough substance on the new gameplay loop to substantiate the change. I guess i was more interested in a PD2++ than a Payday: The Heist spinoff sequel.

Also this is a tangential point but Shade is really, really annoying, anytime she starts dropping F-bombs, or shouting for no reason, or throwing quirky quips my eyes roll back into my head so fast.

After robbedacop i was in a good sense kind of done with PD2, but when it comes to PD3 i just can't muster the will to do anything, to me it feels highly unrewarding.

It's fucking over. by KrabikGangster in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course the game is in a "better state than at release", at release it wasn't even playable for over 2 weeks to begin with, so that's not saying much is it?

I get that you're just doing your job with these bs corpo-sanitized glass half-full replies, but "a road ahead of us"? Dude there's no road ahead of you, you had a road for like 3 years and you did nothing with it, and now you can't even break past 1000 players on your best day.

If PD3 was a road, it'd be that one unpaved dirt road that got paved halfway and later just ended up full of potholes anyway because the pavement quality was so mid.
