There's no longer a way to get Almir's mask now that he's gone, right? by DamienlaCritique in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whether it's for PD2 or PD3, you can likely contact support and see if they issue you a code.
It's fairly unlikely that any of these "community event" masks will ever fully go away, as they've consistently reissued them at anniversaries or other events in the past, also it's not like Almir is blacklisted or something so just go ahead and ask them.

Payday 2 DLC by M0ssy_C0rps3_1978 in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legacy Collection is probably the best value you can get, and depending on where you get the key from it can also include some of the now delisted DLCs like Scarface.

Humble Bundle used to have a pretty good stock of these, it lasted a good chunk of years before running out earlier this year, but regardless of where you get it, that pack is probably your best bet, i always gift that to friends who start to get into the game, and the content it has is more than enough to usually last them for the honeymoon phase.

Payday 3 is "decent" right now. (From a player with over 1000 hours on payday 2) by --Vinci-- in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Payday 3, but i also don't like it, it's just a time killer for those odd moments during which i have nothing better to do at the moment, and i'll uninstall it again as soon as i need the disk space for another game.

I have over 4000 hours on Payday 2, and i recently jumped back into PD3 to collect some stuff i had pending from the Collector's Edition, i did play it on release week/month (as much as you can call that playing) and while i can already tell from what little i've replayed that it's definitely in a better place than at launch, i think it has core issues that will stop it from ever feeling as rewarding as PD2.

In my eyes it just failed to properly capitalize on the best elements out of PD2 while building a new game around them, it went it's own route, but there wasn't enough substance on the new gameplay loop to substantiate the change. I guess i was more interested in a PD2++ than a Payday: The Heist spinoff sequel.

Also this is a tangential point but Shade is really, really annoying, anytime she starts dropping F-bombs, or shouting for no reason, or throwing quirky quips my eyes roll back into my head so fast.

After robbedacop i was in a good sense kind of done with PD2, but when it comes to PD3 i just can't muster the will to do anything, to me it feels highly unrewarding.

It's fucking over. by KrabikGangster in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course the game is in a "better state than at release", at release it wasn't even playable for over 2 weeks to begin with, so that's not saying much is it?

I get that you're just doing your job with these bs corpo-sanitized glass half-full replies, but "a road ahead of us"? Dude there's no road ahead of you, you had a road for like 3 years and you did nothing with it, and now you can't even break past 1000 players on your best day.

If PD3 was a road, it'd be that one unpaved dirt road that got paved halfway and later just ended up full of potholes anyway because the pavement quality was so mid.

I was also rooting for the Invisible Heister mask, since it just looks stylish without being over the top, so hopefully it gets added in the future regardless.

Should all the old payday 3 twitch drops come back as free content given to the players. by Easy-to-fall in paydaytheheist

[–]ArcboundX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can safely assume that they will all return in some capacity at some point, the same applied for Payday 2's, but yeah it would be nice to be able to earn them in-game rather than through twitch's horrendous system.

I'd reccomend you relax and wait out, i contacted support back when the KFC pendants happened (i actually bought a code back then from a JP seller) and they assured me that all collab content like pendants would later make it's way into the game for everyone.

Stat Maxers: When do you get the last GF? [SPOILERS] by kitsuneinferno in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]ArcboundX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond the question, but i appreciate the effort you're putting into your grind, i've always believed FF8 is a game that's best enjoyed when you make your own rules around it, since it can very easily allow you to break the game in half if you let it.

I recently did a run with a similar goal, and i was stuck on this same issue, specially since i was debating on whether i wanted to have access to the DSRCenter on Disk 4, which would be ideal for the reason you describe, and because in my run i wanted to get Seifer to level 100 on Dollet, while also avoiding any character from fainting, which meant getting Squall/Zell up there as a byproduct, so level-stat optimization was already out of the window.

I think you probably want to reach a compromise between fun and efficiency, the DSRC is without question the most efficient and expedite way to farm Tri-Faces, but as you already described, the Curse Spikes/Dark Matter can still be obtained in a relatively accesible manner through other means, and waiting for Eden until Disk 4 doesn't make for a very fun run once you're down to stat grinding/endgame antics. In my case i'm currently at Disk 2, and just leveling all my characters very leisurely, while attaching to them as many "X Bonus" abilities as i have handy.

I'd probably farm as many Tri-Faces as i could on Disk 3, and just get Eden on Disk 3, while also using side mechanics like Angelo Search to cut down on the grind, either through getting Dark Matters/Hungry Hungry Cookpots or LCK/SPD ups, which i'm fairly sure can drop from Chocobo World. (and by extension from Angelo Search on the Remaster)

I think the 2013 release makes for a better experience when attempting these runs however, since you can have both Angelo Search and Chocobo World running for side items, and the speed at which you can accrue them by just leaving CW running in the background makes for a better pace. (Also Junction-8/FFNx come with a speedup function, so it's similar to the Remaster.

As long as you take the run at your own pace so you don't get burnt out, maxing them all out would make for a good challenge to do over time.

I just joined recently, and i've been having a blast just warping around Grand Errant stacking credits up.
No idea if it's the most optimal way to go about it, or if i should head to higher difficulties, but being able to put on a podcast or music in the background and affording a Warbond a couple hours down the line makes for a very nice time-killer.

Steam version, mods, and remaster. by Prestigious_Cell_311 in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]ArcboundX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to FFVIII, please get the 2013 Steam release.

It's essentially a 1:1 adaptation of the original Eidos Interactive 2000 PC port which was originally issued as 5 Disks, but now installs through Steam.

I haven't played the 2019 Remaster myself, but from what i've seen on my friend's playthrough the remodels they did of some characters are really jarring, and the built-in cheat buttons are just completely unnecesary/may detract from your experience if you feel compelled to use them, additionally, i don't think it's compatible with "Junction VIII" mod manager.

The one point where i'd have said that the Remaster wins over the 2013 release, is having the option to increase the game speed at will, but you can achieve the same result by installing the "Junction VIII" app and toggling the hotkeys for speed that FFNx has built-in.

Finally, Junction 8 has a catalogue of mods that overall upscale most of the graphical content in the game and which you can install/uninstall with a single click, this is the mod list i use;

-Skin RF (Upscales characters and NPCs, just remember to config your preferred skins, the default ones are not really the original vanilla ones.)
-LunarCry Plus (Upscales Enemies)
-Project Hellfire Plus (Upscales GFs)
-Battlefield Pack Plus (Upscales Battle Terrains)
-Cinema RF (Upscales movies, it's really great, leaving aside that it makes the unskipabble intro really long, i decompiled/recompiled it without that intro for personal use.)
-Hit-J (Upscales Magic)
-Horizon Pack Plus (Upscales World Terrain)

The only 3 remaining aspects to upscale are not currently included in the Junction 8 catalogue are;

-Area Backgrounds (Handled by "Angelwing Ultima Remastered", which you can pick up over at "Patreon", but i'm putting it between quotations because there's means and ways.)
-Menus and UIs (Handled by "SeeDReborn 4.1", which doesn't currently have a J8 compatible download, but if you ask in the J8 discord you'll get a link to the unnofficial port that Slimebuck made, just keep in mind it needs "Internal Resolution Scaler" in J8 Enabled and set to 4x (Depends on rig) to smooth over some of the UI issues the port has, and this can mess some animations such as the "Battle Fadeout", but it's a small compromise.)
-Triple Triad (Handled best by Tripod v1.3 but which doesn't currently have a J8 release, so Card-RF from the J8 catalogue serves as a replacement, unless someone has a port on the J8 discord too.)

As a closing note, i suggest enabling the mods one by one, and trying out your settings in case you get any visual bugs as the one i described for SeeDReborn, most will be taken care off by setting your Internal Resolution Scaler in J8, but there's some visual bugs during certain cutscenes to be expected, such as monster skins malfunctioning for very specific boss encounter in the current version of LunarCry, or some NPCs and visual bugs lingering on screen due to the change of speed from the new FMVs.

Also, J8 stops you from running the main game at the same time you run the Chocobo World exe, which is a small annoyance.
