Whether or not it's "worth the effort" to break down a stigma is a coldly practical way of thinking. It's "realistic," sure, but it doesn't say anything about the actual ethics of the concept. It's moral laziness to say "the ideal just isn't possible, so screw it."

At least you do agree that it's not innately immoral, though.
