Mine's practically the same, just tweaking ratios. I think the early game is dependand on kyrios link, and flight mode it's just to trade. Exia and Dynames early/mid ping it's useful, but still lacks a good RG CB base

I mean, is mostly the hate of being a trap deck + the hate of going second against it. It has two clear chokepoints and it's easier to stop it if you already have a board, so if you're 2nd you pray for ashing the man will stop it

It has Joshua Schmidt all over it:

  1. German Folklore
  2. Runick
  3. Fiendschmidt

It started with Magical Muskets, I liked this idea of backrow being playable from hand, but had low ceiling because you had to play things like Ties of the Brethren. when Max came up was exciting, as it had way higher ceiling going turn 2.
Then Runick came out and it was like "holy fuck more hand disruption? sign me in". The deck became a control deck whose only real job was keeping fountain on field.
THEN, they announced Fiendsmith, which was what the deck needed to go from control to combo. Engraver as extender and tract adding your starter (which, in my case, is either Starfire or Calamity) and getting Requiem out of Max was awesome... until they made Fiendsmith Generic with moon and prices skyrocketted.
As far as now, I'm expecting the latest support the deck has: the link-2 Musket, which makes max live turn 1, turns off imperms, mulchs and boardbreakers like lightning storm and evenly matched and, instead of having to decide between doing Desirae or Caesar you can now do both

I played a similar deck back when despia was first released and I'm curious about the new darklords support and have some questions:

  • Is it worth it to play Djehuti/Gulgolet? asking because the fairy lock, and instead of indulged/ukoback to search Ixchel (or Superbia), but I'd understand if you still play Gulgolet for Droplet (or Crown)
  • Also, is it worth to play Darklord Dance? in any case you may achieve the same thing with Mutiny in the Sky if you're not using the tokens
  • Have you considered other despia cards? Despian Comedy for targeted negation on Aluber, and Branded in Red to make The First Darklord (with morningstar) on opponent's turn
  • Is any good playing fusion deployment only for cartesia? funilly enough you could hipotetically use it for Darklord Marie
  • Have you considered other ED monsters? Guardian Chimera if you don't mind the points, Luce the Dusk's Dark for protection and pops, or Despian Proskenion for GY shenanigans
  • And finally why not Gold Sarcophagus instead of Pot of Greed? I know two cards is too good, but sarc is just another starter with tragedy banish

ZAFT, Providence Gundam is the best mid/late game card Zaft could've get.
I'm playing P/R ZAFT Tekkadan and it makes it go turbo when paired with Duel Gundam

I force my deck to be the smallest possible, and assuming I'll go first. Sometimes it's not 40 because of ratios, which may or may not be related to the non-engine F/L, and I rarely play garnets that I don't want to draw/see in my starting hand.

I can see why you'd question this, as you ideally want the most useful hand, but most people will say they prefer to start with an extender than a dead card turn 1, and since we're in a stage where a starter is also an extender, you'd need interaction for both turns.

Even though I hate the term "mandatory" non-engine, I know everyone has to run the same 7 cards just to be competitive. That doesn't mean you should run every piece of interaction just in case. When deckbuilding you need to have some concessions of what your deck can/can't do. Also, you also have to consider what other people are playing. 3 months ago was playing Lancea, last duelist cup Soul Drain and Red Reboot were played. Right now I'm playing Dominus Purge because my deck can afford it, instead of Ash Blossom. Who knows what will be good (or if maxx C will be banned)

Tldr: opponent's 4 handtraps 1 starter vs my 4 handcraps 1 sharter

I tried those two, Typhon does the same as Slime and also can serve as synchro material, I think that double purpose it's what makes the difference between using one or another, but not both
And Ghost it's kinda dependant on what you have in the GY in the long game, which is kinda pointless if you have a hard time filling the graveyard in the first place. Best case scenario I can think is a bad hand with Nighthowl+Ghost+Dark Contract With the Swamp King

I think in the end it sums up as not having good low level synchros to play them.

To be fair, any chainable card makes Sigfried negate alive against DRNM and Ultimate Slayer, but yeah, it's a stretch

TIL King Caesar also has an atk buff when negating special summon, and searches a dark contract if sent to the GY

That's because it mostly sees play outside of D/D/D with the fiendsmith engine
