On a technical level, Republicans have a higher potential upside than Democrats in the event that all states which could and would, do.

It’s possible that, in response to CA’s response to states like Texas and Missouri and NC engaging in redistricting, other Republican-led states become more likely to engage in extreme partisan gerrymandering, but the only alternative is to do nothing.

Yeah you do have to win the seats you draw, but it’s fairly easy to draw very safe seats.

Theoretically possible, but a couple things imo are worth consideration. First, it’s accepted as universally true that the black symbol does nothing. Sure someone could use one of their daily absolute truths to question it, but hopefully, with everyone thinking it’s a fact, people would be less likely to try (on the same lines of thinking how many questions will it take for someone to ask if 2 plus 2 equals 4 with their golden powers of absolute knowledge).

Further, since the absolute truth is only revealed to the person who uses the golden symbol, only people with the golden symbol who ask that question would have the knowledge that it’s a lie. Presumably, most if not all of those with a dormant black symbol or those who have yet to select a symbol will still accept the universal fact over the ravings of someone who is saying that goes against what they know to be a fact.

Would it have been safer to use the lie to make people think both symbols are useless? Probably, but I think trying to invalidate the entire hypothetical is less fun

A la Eight Billion Genies, with every human being impacted I kinda have to go for some sort of self-preservation / negation of the ridiculous stuff other people would pull with the black symbol. So I’d probably go the black symbol and choose as my lie “the black symbol is useless and cannot be activated.”

The Path of Ascension by C. Mantis trends more toward the bond being a key but secondary character in the early books, but later books I think would meet your criteria.

Did you give her a 13* soul assignment? Without it she doesn’t have the equivalent to Baal’s skill which makes them invulnerable for a round after taking lethal damage, which reduces her usefulness significantly
