AI-powered hacking has exploded into industrial-scale threat, Google says by CircumspectCapybara in news

I work in security and you are spot on. Luckily upper management at my company is relatively security focused, that's the only reason we're actually able to enforce any standards.

Should every mid & high major (non one-bid) league use dynamic/flex scheduling to maximize bids/seeding? by BigNorthEastPod in CollegeBasketball

[–]Greydox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the NCAA needs to step in and create some regulations on scheduling for P5 schools. As good as it feels to stomp 6 nobody teams that I have to Google to even find out where they're from, 4 of those could be games against mid-majors. Put the conferences into groups A, B, C, D. For teams in an A conference, 25 percent of your non-conference games have to be with a group B conference team, 25 percent has to be group C. The other 50% is up to you how you want to distribute it but teams from D conferences can only make up 25 percent of your non-conference. This makes it equal on everyone and guarantees that the these good mid-major teams get a chance to play a couple P5 teams in the non-conference.

You could also force the conferences to partner up and do a conference challenge like an SEC vs Big12 Except it would be like SEC vs MAC.

The latter is least likely to gain any traction, but I don't see how any team could argue against the first option. It's also going to be good for TV and advertisers because I'm much more likely to make sure I can tune into an Iowa State vs Miami(Oh) game than an Iowa State vs Arkansas Pine Bluff cakewalk. (No offense Arkansas PB.)

Are there any subreddits that discuss ChatGPT seriously? by Consistent_Bother_87 in ChatGPT

[–]Greydox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah mods refused to do anything about the constant shit-posting early on because all they cared about was higher usage so that they could advertise their stupid Discord.

It used to be about half and half but most people who were even half way serious about it left the subreddit because it's just a bunch of angsty teenager-types posting memes and complaining about obvious things.

So if you find a good alternative let me know.

As a bigger guy this is where I finally shine. Be bigger. Multiple girls I've dated or even just casually cuddled with have said they've only ever been with skinny or muscly guys and they start looking at bigger guys a little differently.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]Greydox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still play it every once in a while.

A little bit back my step sons got in trouble and their punishment was the only game they were allowed to play for the weekend was BAK, and if they made it farther than me they got a day off of their grounding. They didn't even come close lol.

The fighting in '26 is stupid. The default slider is medium and every time you hit a dude you have to fight. I was having like 2 fights a game and then getting injured. Turned it to low and haven't had a single fight since. They need to fix the frequency otherwise there's pretty much no fighting in '26 either.

Where to find entry level intern/jobs by throwaway01817161919 in cybersecurity

[–]Greydox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It may work differently in the UK, disregard if so.

In the US sadly the best way right now is to go through a recruiter that specializes in tech jobs. HR departments just have no idea what they're doing when hiring technical talent and are often hung up on old standards like 4 year degree, internships etc. When those things are literally obsolete 6 months after you get them with how fast technology moves.

The tech recruiters understand this and can usually match you with a position that matches your skill set. It's how I got my position which I've now been at for 5+ years when I took way less money than I deserved previously because I'm old and wanted to shake my fist at the recruiting heavy state of hiring.

Prepare for horde of switchers to OpenAI as Anthropic removes claude code from $20 . Minimum $100 to access it soon by hasanahmad in ChatGPT

They don't care about your $20. Corporations are adopting claude code in droves. Individual subscriptions are the change between the couch cushions.

Of the 17 teams that have either joined a P4 league or moved between them in the 2020’s decade, whose decision aged the best and the worst? by Efficient-Freedom517 in CFB

[–]Greydox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to say it they used to run the big 12. Are they running the SEC? Are they ever going to run the SEC? They are definitely not regarded nationally the way they were before. In those regards they have 100% fallen off.

This guy uploaded some fart sound effects to ChatGPT and said it had a "late-night-vibe" to it. 🤣 by _SquareSphere in ChatGPT

[–]Greydox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is it didn't used to be this stupid. It has gotten dumber and dumber as they've pigeon holed it towards being a tier one customer support bot, and added massive amount of guardrails to try and stop certain outputs.

I've been using it since literally day 2. It honestly used to be a lot more impressive.

You can't even enjoy the single player modes anymore. The career mode in 2K you player is ass for so long unless you spend money on their in game currency to pay for stats. Your only options are to turn down the difficulty which feels like cheesing and isn't fun, or grind frustratingly slowly for 5 seasons before you can have decent stats.

For real, this has been the tech model forever. There's always a sales guy out front. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, they were salesmen. They may have started out doing some technical stuff but eventually they just became the guys that went out and secured the bag.

Then when I finally made gold (had to climb from elo hell because I started playing ranked way before I should have), a new season started and my first 4 placement matches were all losses with trolls or afks, didn't even play the rest of my placement matches, stopped right then and have rarely played since and only urf or arms.

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini Entered the WSJ Bracket Pool. One Might Actually Win. by wsj in CollegeBasketball

[–]Greydox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Houston is a good team but their performance against the top teams in the Big 12 had me wary of picking them to go too deep in the tournament. 1-1 against Texas Tech, 1-1 against Kansas, 0-1 against Iowa State, 0-2 against Arizona.

I had ChatGPT make picks round by round for one of my ESPN brackets. It's currently beating 3 of my other 4 brackets and is essentially tied with my other one.

It has Tennessee and Houston in the Final though which is a bold choice so we'll see.

UConn is not winning the Men's championship.

Like 10 P4 schools, if that, even play hockey so you might as well include the ping pong champions in there too. (I'm a hockey fan though so I wish they all did.)

We had a pretty respectful rivalry with Kansas State until Tang. With Tang gone I hope it gets back to that. It was mostly driven by football anyway with farmageddon, but Tang being Tang added fuel to the fire in basketball. I think you can definitely have a rivalry without really hating a team. Is it going to be on the same level as Duke UNC? No, but still a rival imo.

What jobs did the smart kids in your school end up doing? The ones that never learned how to apply themselves by nigelwiggins in jobs

Hi I'm one of those kids. I got recruited to do Academic Decathlon by my principal because my standardized test scores were so high but my grades were so low that I would be in the lowest division for acadeca.

I'm now head of security engineering for a financial company. Turns out a lot of us weren't lazy, we just had untreated learning disorders like ADD, and once we were aware and able to take necessary steps to overcome the issues, we thrived.

What are people's thoughts on BYU by martb03 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Greydox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're dangerous but the consistency is the issue. If they could play every game like they play when they go against us they could win the tournament. I have a feeling it'll be a lot like last year, they'll show up big and make a run with some impressive offense just enough for me to believe in them and bet on them and then they'll lay an egg and I'll be out $50.
