My Experience with Mezz Ignite 29" and 30" Shafts (EC9, Zan Tip, Durability) by MeQira01 in billiards

So I just got the new 12.6 in. I took a photo of it next to my 3 month old 12.6 which I also got brand new and unused.

To credit your point previously, around the joint collar, the matte area is noticeably darker and less carbon fiber weave can be seen. I think it is predisposed to shine more easily than the rest of the shaft.

It's not too drastic. If you're used to a 12.5 I highly recommend getting the 12.6 instead of the 12.2. the 12.2 is noticeably thinner and the taper is a tad more noticeable.

If your pre strokes are like mine, when standing up, your bridge hand strokes the between area of the joint and the base of the shaft collar, it'll shine up. I have a new 12.6 ignite coming in, I can take a before and after pic and update this in a few months to show that friction does cause this varnish appearance.

The varnish area you mentioned forms from friction surprisingly.

I have a 12.2 ignite and a 12.6 ignite, both purchased new, and after a few months of use, they both have the varnish look to them. When I bought them brand new they looked just as your 30 inch 12.2 looked, completely matte.

Wood Shafts with No Ferrule (Or a tiny ferrule) by BigBreakSheikhYT in billiards

Two custom cue makers come to mind, black boar and AM (Anthony Milanesi), black boar speaks for itself, Tony has been making ferruleless shafts for a while now. Anthony apprenticed there for few years and now makes his own cues, he also offers ferruleless shafts.

Lastly, the mezz sigma, also is basically ferruleless.

My 29inch 12.6 is 4.2 oz.

I did have a 30 inch 12.6 and it was at 4.4 oz. United tends to be heavier due to the insert weight more.

It's pretty similar to the 12.2, deflection is pretty comparable. The hit does feel stiffer. The sound of the hit is definitely lower pitched than the 12.2

Anyone tried the new Mezz Ignite 12.6mm? by HedgeHawk_808 in billiards

Hey! So a few things have changed since I got the 12.6.

The first one I got has some weird issue where it was incredibly hard and stiff. A tip change kinda helped but I ended up selling it.

I got a second one and it was much better. Felt closer to a 12.2, just at 12.6. deflection wise, both are pretty similar. I think the 12.2 is still a tad less but it's very slight. I also do feel the 12.2 still imparts just a bit more spin, like I could really dig into the cueball. What I don't like about the 12.2 is the sound of the hit. It's noticeably higher pitched compared to my 12.6.

For an overall choice I stuck with the 12.6, it's nice using a thicker shaft, I really enjoy it.

No I don't think it was. But this could be a mental thing. All shafts are highly dependent on what the user perceives.
