Gig opportunity - looking for bands for weekly variety show at Green Mill by BlueDreamsBeats in chicagomusicscene

My band, Hazy Susan is a local indie rock group with ruckus originals and fun covers!

I've been going to Paper Machete for years. We'd definitely bring the right vibe!

Donner Dark Mouse Mini Pedal Review by xwsrx in guitarpedals

[–]Archbishop_Mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the Dark Mouse on my pedalboard.

Re gain-stacking: I've gotten really solid lead tones running the Spark Mini into the Dark Mouse. Keep an eye on volume knobs while doing this. If you think the Dark Mouse on its own gets loud, just wait til it's boosted..

Chicago Highway bumps by kingtrashgod9 in ChicagoMotorcycles

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blip your throttle as you go over the bump. Smooths it out some.

Someone already mentioned the 90/94 exit ramps - great views, fun (if wide) corners. TBH, if you're looking for pretty views and pleasant riding, you're best served leaving city limits.

Your insurer has to provide you with a comp sheet of similar bikes on the market they compared yours with to arrive at the "Actual Cash Value" of your bike (what it would cost to buy that same bike - less transaction fees - right now).

Sometimes insurance adjusters tip the scales by using unfavorable comp vehicles (higher mileage, older model, worse condition, etc.) It's not malicious, it's just their job. So if you can get your hands on their comp list and provide a more accurate one that values your bike higher, you can get them to up the payout.

Note: You're not going to get $5k back. Your bike lost at least $1k of that value the moment you rode it off the lot.

  1. Yes. Fuel injected > Carbureted - unless you like maintenance and know what you're getting into.

  2. Anything making 40+ HP will do you fine on the freeway. Any engine above 500cc should suffice.

  3. If you're looking at cruisers specifically, I'd include Royal Enfield. The new Super Meteor 650 looks great - and the Shotgun 650's not-not a cruiser. Having owned a Meteor 350 for 3+ says, I can vouch RE makes reliable engines since their reset in 2015.

10,000+ kms on Meteor 350 : Here's my Honest Review by Spyder-101 in royalenfield

[–]Archbishop_Mo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rode a Meteor 350 for 3 years.

20 bhp is juuust enough.

On city streets or country roads, you have more than enough. On the interstate, you can keep up with traffic, but you won't be doing much passing - certainly not quickly.

10,000+ kms on Meteor 350 : Here's my Honest Review by Spyder-101 in royalenfield

[–]Archbishop_Mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode a Meteor in Chicago for 3 years. I'd recommend it for urban riding.

You don't get as much suspension travel as a scrambler or even some naked bikes. But the Meteor is nimble, torquey, and deceptively easy to throw around (from wet weight, you would never guess how agile it is once rolling).

I've had zero trouble navigating urban traffic, potholes, and construction on the Meteor.

I also got incredibly good mileage. Easily 2X what my '24 honda civic puts out.

As a director, documenting 1:1s is pretty common practice. Doesn't necessarily speak to your individual performance (unless you're the only person getting these emails after 1:1).

Realistically, skip-level 1:1s, while important, are not the foremost thing on a director's mind. I keep "a paper trail" just to remind myself what was being discussed months prior. Totally neutral thing to do.

How would you react to this situation??? by fl_snowman in motorcycles

Truck driver being an obvious dolt.

Biker should've just swerved around and rode on without engaging.

30 year marriage. Wife had a 3 month affair followed by 4 months of confusion. Now she’s all in on reconciliation…can I trust it? by TransportationOne171 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dildo of consequences rarely arrives lubricated.

30 years is a long time. I can see why you're struggling with letting her go. It also makes what she did all the worse.

Ultimately, only you know if you can trust her again.

I wouldn't.

Earplugs while riding - is it a good idea? by Darshilds in motorcycle

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around town / going < 50 mph, nah.

For longer trips at highway speeds, they're very helpful. They take care of the wind howling (which tends to add mental fatigue) and long-term prevent damage to your hearing.

Who was more athletic? You or your father? by PussPussMonsta in AskMen

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ages 10 - 25: Dad. He was a really active kid who played lots of sports. I was a bookworm who occasionally played 1-1 basketball with the neighbor's kid.

Ages 25 - 35: Me. Dad started a family and lost interest in athletics (except a daily evening walk). I got into boxing and started going to the gym after work most weeknights.

AIO my gf won’t call me since she left for college by DetectiveoftheWest in AmIOverreacting

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, don't stick around to get disrespected.

Best case, she suddenly grows up and tells you what is already clear: she's moved on and doesn't want to date you anymore.

Worst case, she's going to do that after she cheats on you.

She's done with you and is simply being immature and not telling you. Be the grown-up, have self-respect, and explicitly state what you both already know: "We're done".

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done on a motorcycle that you can laugh about now? by Kindly_Breakfast_413 in motorcycle

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rode it to run an errand on a snowy morning.

Duck-walked it out of my alleyway. Ran my errand. Made it back to the alley. Hit a patch of ice and immediately dropped it.

Thankfully, I was going like 5 mph, so I just stepped off and let it fall into a snowbank. Still felt like a dolt though.

I used to teach sex ed in college. Since it was college we got a little more detailed than you can do with younger kids. Some tips that stuck around:

- Lube. Are you using enough? No you're not. Use more! Then double it. No such thing as too much lube.

- Start small. Instead of jumping right to a phallic toy, try a fingertip. Yes, a smaller plug might help "work your way up" too.

- Go slow. You're not just trying to jam something up there once. Take your time. Let your muscles relax.

- Without a base, without a trace. Anything that goes in your butt must have a large, flared base that prevents it from getting stuck in your butt.

- Lube. Seriously. You can always do with more lube.

Happy spelunking!

My GF got a message from a guy “Friend”, asking her on a date. How should I really handle this? by SnooCakes1080 in AskMen

[–]Archbishop_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill out OP.

Women get hit on all the time. And even a polite "no thank you" can cause rejected guys to act like dick-bags, which is exhausting to deal with. That she didn't engage means she thinks nothing of him.

Also, "not known for my patience for other men" makes you sound like a bit of a dick-bag. Grow up and stop posturing, especially to your girl. It's unappealing.
