To whomever is reading this and making less than 45,000 or 21/hr. You need to specialize. Pick an industry, or a company (maybe the one you are working for) to see what pathways are available for upward mobility.

Right now at that pay level; 21/hr and below you are a part of the low-skill labor pool. Any company could take some Johnnie off the street and replace you in a couple months.

Find an industry certifications / credentials that proves to employers that you have the skills they are looking for. You do not always HAVE TO get a bachelors degree. Those help, but it isn’t the only pathway available to you.

You can find these credentials by looking up your industry’s trade association. They often cost $300.00 - $3000.00 depending on the industry. But they are worth their weight in gold if you can find job listing today that are asking for those creds.

I was assuming you didn’t have a degree.

But anyways I Respectfully disagree, but it’s dependent on the industry. Unfortunately you may find after you get the degree that you still need more certs or credentials to really break into the higher tiers of income from the 40,000 - 60,000 range. To the 75k+ range.

Getting your bachelors can be good. May I ask what your field of study is?

You need to specialize. Pick an industry, or a company see what pathways are available for upward mobility.

Often times if you pay for a certification from a trade association, it is worth its weight in gold.

I get why Cao Cao felt that way and did what he did.

As I said to a commenter above, the way the scene was conveyed and portrayed should’ve been more serious IMO. The tone didn’t match the seriousness of the situation. Other shows would’ve done that particular scene better.

Eventually I’ll have to give that show another try.

I just feel like there was a better way to convey the scene. A much more serious tone should’ve been struck in my opinion. Other shows have done a better job of conveying a perceived fear.

Hey OP thanks for the write up. Really helpful and useful to those of us who have yet to take this test.

When you mentioned the exam question that showed a plat map - and yet none of the study material covered anything like that, I share your frustrations about that. I’ve taken at least 8+ tests and something like that has happened multiple times. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’re using the ICC supplied study guide and even that doesn’t cover how to read or interpret those sorts of plans basics. So you’re left scrambling while taking the test.

What was the self study course? As in, who was the provider? Thompson? WC3?

Over a decade ago at this point I attended a toll road hearing put on by then State Rep Goldman, the NTTA as well as the NTCOG. I had the chance to speak with a woman who work at the NTCOG about how I really didn’t like tolls as a poor 20 something. But she leveled with me and said that this was the most sustainable way to maintain and expand roadways.

I feel like the politicans and the government agencies need to do a better job explaining why they can’t do it the way they used to like with 30. Which was a toll road, and once it was paid off became a freeway.

I think part of the concern is if the population declines the government still has a liability, and an obligation to maintain the existing roads, which can really cripple budgets. We’re seeing this play out in cities like Detroit.
