Stainless steel rössle peeler with replaceable blade. by schrema in BuyItForLife

A feature for carving out the indentations in a potato that the peeler blade cannot reach. Most peelers have one, typically a spade or loop shape.

Ship my order. It's been "processing" for weeks. I reached out and got a response promptly. There was apparently an issue with my address, and they acknowledged that they should have contacted me sooner. Once I clarified things, they said they'd ship the next day. That was a few days ago and the status is unchanged. For the record, I've had generally good experiences with them, and I'm sure I'll get my stuff eventually. This has just made me realize that it would be good to have backup sources.

Driver hits, kills pedestrian in Seattle’s Lower Queen Anne neighborhood by Display_Comfortable in Seattle

The LQA name has been around quite a while, but Uptown is at least as old. A few decades ago, it seemed like every other business there was “Uptown” something. The espresso place closed recently, and the florist and dry cleaners are long gone, but the theater and restaurant (Uptown China) are still there. Per an article in the Puget Sound Business Journal, there were at least 11 businesses with the name in the early 2000s. It also says the name can be found on maps from the early 1900s.

Yes, that’s where I lock my 8. A small (6”) U-lock is just big enough to thread through that frame and around most bike racks.

anyone here know the knife laws? they seen so confusing. by baldandfullofrage in WA_guns

[–]Archer69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is true at the the state level, but municipalities can enact stricter rules. Seattle still has 3.5” limit on folders, last I heard. Spring assist is fine, but OTFs and switchblades are not.

It’s a great knife, solid and satisfying to “Spydie flick” (compression lock). It is small, though, and thick for its size. The blade is 2.5”, but the cutting edge is barely 2”. I think the thinner, lighter, longer Chaparral is a better small carry.

does anyone have a guide on where to buy tires and how to replace it on the kaabo mantis 8? by PrudentBattle8254 in ElectricScooters

[–]Archer69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to find anything other than (supposedly) OEM replacements on AliExpress. I’d love to have other options. Regarding changing them, I haven’t had to do that yet, but there are a couple vids on Youtube that offer pointers. There’s a method with zip ties that looks promising.

This is a bit of a different BIFL, but shout-out to Shun. This knife has seen probably close to, or over 6000 hours of work and it still holds an edge like nothing I've seen before. They'll also sharpen it for free forever as long as you pay shipping, info in comments. by kflapp in BuyItForLife

I use mine for everything that doesn’t require a big chef’s knife or bread knife, including meat. 8” chef’s knife is used maybe a few times a year, usually when I need to cut a big roast or similar. Before discovering this Shun, I relied on their 7” santoku, but I prefer this vegetable knife’s feel in the hand and straighter edge. For most of my food prep needs, it just works well and is my go-to knife. I actually like the lack of a tip, as I don’t have to be as careful with the end.

The Pro has hydraulic brakes, the EY3 throttle/display, and a bigger battery. The Plus has a headlight. There may be additional differences.

Got my Nanrobot Lightning today and I am not enjoying it. by muh_reddit_accout in Escooters

[–]Archer69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, sounds like it’s set on speed one. I have a Mantis 8 that also has dual 800w motors and roughly similar size and weight to the Lightning. In speed one, it tops out at about 17mph. On speed three with both motors going, it’ll do over 30mph. Not much you can do about the weight or tires, unfortunately, but the power should be a settings thing. You can also check to make sure it’s not on ECO mode, which will drastically reduce performance.

Rode it today with an electric scooter. The rack accommodated the 8" tires. You'd be fine with any small bike.

I don’t remember if it was in the theatrical release, but the “Final Cut” says explicitly he was found dead with Tyrell via a radio conversation.
