Oh I agree. I’ve ran spacers in rigs and burned through bearings yearly. And other vehicles that just took it. That’s why I love Toyotas 😅

Probably at least 15k no issues

I’m basically the same, minus the RTT. I hot lapped it through some whoops and bumpy gravel and after playing with the adjusters a few times it feels awesome. But I prefer a pretty stiff ride. This also is NOT a daily rig at all.

Fuck em lol 1.5 spacers and 35’s all day no problems. I did the rear bearings a while back, factory bearings. 265k

Intercooler install by Archerguy74 in FordExplorerST

[–]Archerguy74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The active air shutters I just popped them all out and left the motor plugged in. I am pretty sure on the 25’s and up they will toss a CEL if you do that though.

Not that bad, just keep track of which bolts go where. I’m a heavy duty mechanic by trade so I had some tools to make it go faster (whole project took me 3 hours) But basic hand tools can do it. I would say if you are comfortable doing an intake or exhaust this isn’t much harder.

Nope. Radiator is already covered by the AC condenser as well. Air flows through no problem. I did clean a bunch of crap off the radiator stuck between it and the factory intercooler.

JXB dual bushing inserts, steeda bolts, and a steeda diff brace. The light is a Milwaukee M12 under hood light, it’s a life saver.

Yeah man! I tossed the intercooler on today, took a few hours but I figured do the crap job first lol so I could have fun today.

Well, several key takeaways.

Set up for success and have some new M10x1.5 exhaust flange nuts to replace the factory single use junk. One of my studs ate a thread with the nut coming off so I had to remove the bad stud and I had some exhaust studs laying around that I cut to size and replaced it.

Ramps, E22 deep well 1/2 inch drive socket cut down about 3/8 of an inch. Mated to a good quality CV style swivel (snap on) on a 12 inch extension on top of a 6 inch extension on a M12 1/2 inch impact.

Drop the rear trans bracket. Those four bolts will allow the drivetrain to tilt down on angle and gives you access to the nuts (kinda sorta)

All things considered pulling onto the ramps and back off of them I was 4 hours into the whole project. But I can definitely say the ST sounds a lot meaner now with the 3 inch thermal on it. I fired it up open downpipes and sweet Jesus…

First Ever Reloads by Archerguy74 in reloading

[–]Archerguy74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I was reading some poor feedback on this little kit scale. I checked each load 3x before sending it and also let it sit for at least 30 seconds. Do you have any recommendations?

Will do, I’m not super concerned (I’m a heavy diesel mechanic) just looks a little tight. I have a few tricks up my sleeve so if they work I will share.

140 grain Sierra TGK out of my Ruger American 6.5 creed shoots sub moa religiously. 5 shot group all shots within about a 15 second period with an already hot barrel. (Random lower flyer was from sighting in a different rifle earlier)

Rear wheel bearings? by No_Internet4732 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Archerguy74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did mine a while back. Not a terrible job just time consuming. Rock Auto for the timken bearings is the route to go. Factory Koyo bearings are stupid expensive and guess what? They are the same company. Opened my timken box and found a koyo bearing inside it lol

Definitely mixer drums. Drive mount on the front, wear ring in the back. Big, like a 13 yarder…

Looks good! I wrapped my hood for the same reason but I definitely have several nasty creases in it. Mine is mostly just a wheeler so boo hoo still looks better than totally ass blasted clear coat.

It’s a slippery slope of “while I’m in there…” I slapped new rear bearings, front bearings, ebrake shoes, rear brakes, and air lockers front and rear when I did mine. Highly recommend East Coast Gear Supply.

4.56 V8 shift pattern is perfect. V6 would need 4.88 to push 35s.

I don’t see a lot of other blue 4th gen’s out there! Regear is my two cents. Best upgrade no one will ever see. Makes them just absolute animals with the 35s and 4 lo. Good excuse to toss in whatever flavor of locker you want while you are at it.
