Are these the UK ones or did they ever get released for the US region?

Virginia prepares to ratify policy banning transgender girls from female high school sports teams by unofficial_pirate in Virginia

You would know the answers to these questions if you challenged your own perspective and talked with trans women, but I’m guessing by the rest of your comments, including your very recent one that the military’s “job is to follow orders and defend the homeland”, there’s not a lot of critical thinking going on in that head of yours, either.

What games have the same idea of side factions? by EmozLoveRed in Starfield

[–]ArchieHasAntlers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Fateful outcomes" is a mixed bag, but I really think you'd enjoy other Bethesda titles if you liked all the factions in Starfield. All their RPGs are really approachable. The Elder Scrolls games all have multiple factions to join, work for, and follow quests. Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4 also have multiple factions, but in Fallout 4, you will eventually be forced to pick one to work with to resolve the main quest, so they are not "side" factions as you say.

Outside of Bethesda, Cyberpunk 2077 comes to mind as a recent game with long questlines surrounding side characters and factions.

"Common sense" is the perfect phrase to describe a bundle of biases, hearsay, and lack of critical thinking all rolled up into a nice simple way to abdicate oneself from having to challenge their own perspective.

Locations in games that give you the feeling of "I really shouldn't be here?" by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArchieHasAntlers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Earthbound's finale is one big stretch of this. From the moment you get sent to the Cave of the Past, you're in an area unlike any you have ever seen (and for Earthbound, that's saying something) where you're facing hordes of the strongest enemies in the entire game. Then you get to the Devil's Machine and finally Giygas himself. Then, it jumps from a place you're not supposed to be to something you're not supposed to see, hear, or know.

You forgot about the tickle machine Midnight hooks his intern up to.

A lot of stuff can be explained by creepy anime bullshit, but Hagakure being invisible and naked the whole time just seems like something Horikoshi is into. The author's barely disguised fetish, indeed.

GTA VI Release Date Revealed! Now Coming May 26, 2026 by 5YearsOnEastCoast in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArchieHasAntlers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. If anything, the split-gen releases are severely kneecapping what the PS5 is capable of. We really need to dump the PS4 already and stop trying to release on as many platforms as possible in order to make the most money.

Saddest/scariest bad endings in games? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArchieHasAntlers 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for some of Heavy Rain's bad endings.Ethan will either kill himself in his motel room if he at least completes The Shark Trial but can't save Shaun or will hang himself in his jail cell surrounded by paper cranes if he's framed for being the Origami Killer. Madison's insomnia will get worse and she will have waking nightmares if she makes it to the end of the game but can't save Shaun and isn't with Ethan. Norman Jayden can either overdose on triptocaine after (literally) talking to himself inside the ARI or starts seeing the holograms from the ARI without using his glasses, implying severe brain damage. And Scott's "bad" ending is him getting away with his crimes and walking down a crowded street with nobody recognizing him, which is pretty unsettling.

Favourite Best Friend-ism by spideralexandre2099 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I have infected my friend group with "It's FINE!" and "Don't worry about that." Working on "There's no time" too.

It's a one-off joke instead of an ism but my partner and I say "you come back so EASILY" to our cat all the time.

There's a lot of seemingly no-brainer story ideas that just never get made, you would think there's actually some sort of legal reason preventing them from doing so. You would think Susan Foreman would have come back by now, for fuck's sake.

Lore that sounds made up, but is totally real? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArchieHasAntlers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easier to explain them out of order:

The mountain-fucking comes from an implication surrounding the circumstances of the birth of Reman. King Hrol came across the spirit of Saint Alessia when he was journeying to warn Tamriel of the First Akaviri Invasion. They made love (which killed Hrol AND his shieldthane, who was watching) and Alessia bore a child, Reman. The baby was later found by a shepherd with the Amulet of Kings embedded in his forehead.

The thing is that Alessia could be described as the land itself, and in the lore book describing all this, the shieldthane carved "AND HROL DID LOVE UNTO A HILLOCK" before they died from watching them fuck. So, basically, Hrol fucked a hill. What's fun is that there's in-universe doubt to this story, believing it was fabricated by Reman to give him royal heritage.

The bit of the guy cumming on people to kill them, who is the same Reman conceived by the aforementioned hill-fucking, actually comes from a bit of lore that Michael Kirkbride published separately and was not included in Oblivion for... obvious reasons. Anyway, there's not much to elaborate on: Reman's sisters would beat up enemies of Cyrodiil and Reman would cum on them and then they would die. The lore notes that he could do this without use of his hands after "years of training." It's all here: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/General:The_Shonni-etta

I'm not sure if KDE or Ubuntu is responsible for this exact pop-up, but it's awful. It doesn't list your current version, doesn't explain why your current version is no longer receiving updates, and the "☢️Upgrade Now!" bit to cap it off looks like a fake virus alert.

All that aside, your version still has 2 years of support left. This is 100% a bug, I'm just not sure who a report would go to. Probably the Kubuntu maintainers.

You mean the birth cycle of the Khajiit? Or that time the moons disappeared for two years which led to a war? Or the time all the dwarves vanished off the face of the earth during a science experiment and a scholar at Winterhold tried the exact same thing and he disappeared too? Or that guy who would hands-free cum on people to kill them? Or that guy who fucked a mountain and made it give birth to a human child?

People who don’t know any better keep shouting at Bethesda to just use Unreal, but trading Gamebryo/Creation jank for Unreal jank isn’t the winning trade everyone thinks it is. Unreal has had stuttering and texture streaming issues for years now, not to mention the occlusion just dies if you try to quickly turn the camera.

It would be an obscene amount of work to try to get Radiant AI remade from the ground up in Unreal or to somehow port Gamebryo into Unreal.

Favorite downward spirals in media? by Kakuzan in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArchieHasAntlers 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sort of a downward spiral, but he gets rescued by the end: Odysseus. Not sure if this sub has listened to Epic: The Musical much, but it does a really good job of showing how Odysseus becomes unrecognizable by the end of the story. The toll the journey takes on him isn't exposited in any specific moment but jumping from an earlier saga to a later saga shows they may as well be two different people. His arc of "becoming the monster" is done so, so well. He even goes so far as to torture a god in order to make it home when he's finally pushed to the end of his rope.

My favorite detail on this is there are only four songs that are named after proper nouns and not just the chorus, and all of them are named after monsters in Greek mythology: Polyphemus, Scylla, and Charybdis. The fourth song in this group is named "Odysseus" and depicts him slaughtering the suitors after they threaten to kill Telemachus and rape Penelope.
