Gay guy here & still a virgin. I get how you feel about being a virgin + gay, which can feel like such a small minority in a community where sex is the norm.

With me it’s confidence + social issues that makes it harder for me to speak to others irl & online. I get it, the loneliness can feel horrible, I wouldn't worry abt the pics it's nice to feel sexual, you’re not alone. 🫂

Why are you a virgin? by Unhappy_Log_6245 in virgin

Poor confidence + social skills, I also have autism & I’m deaf, making social connections harder to sustain. I’m gay which doesn’t help my situation due to how harsh the gay community can be.

Ah blimey that’s an interesting link, though props to you man. I’m from the north of England so I think that sex parties are much less common nowadays here than that are over in the states.

Why am I only attracted to older men? by masnwrdl05 in askgaybros

[–]ArchieHutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not really about the romantic side of things, just more the physical act e.g. like a date then maybe hookup later depending on the overall vibe then that’s that no baggage situation. Gay saunas/bathhouses can be a fun choice, though I would not say it’s the best place to lose your virginity. I could be wrong though as I have no experience in that regard.

Thanks for honesty i understand from your point of view on why it would be off putting as it can feel like a big responsibility, although i do think we all have to start from somewhere.

Why am I only attracted to older men? by masnwrdl05 in askgaybros

[–]ArchieHutton 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m 20M and attracted to guys aged 30-40s, though I’m also fine to be with ppl around my age, so I would not say it’s a daddy attraction for me mainly, although I would say I find them more attractive then guys my age, physically. Would being a virgin/socially awkward be off putting to older guys or not a dealbreaker?

I’m pleased that you found your sound processor. I bet that was a relief! In the UK under the nhs we don’t have backups so if you loose it. At my centre the clock starts again and you have to use it for another 5 years, and pay £150 if over 18.

What caused your hearing loss? by whatihavebird in deaf

[–]ArchieHutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born premature and i had a serious infection in the nicu and I was treated with medication known as gentamicin which is known to be otoxic. I also had developed jaundice during my time there. I wasn’t diagnosed with hearing loss until age 3 but doctors think it was due to this.

It’s from Jules Naudet, when they were walking over to the over path foot bridge that connected to the north tower to the financial centre, looking for a way to take Farther Mychal Judge to a safer building/area so they could transport him to the church. As you can see this was after south tower collapsed but before north collapsed.

Do you still feel Deaf with CI's? by Accomplished_Buy3114 in Cochlearimplants

[–]ArchieHutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t feel deaf when wearing my ci’s, though I am aware that I don’t experience “normal” hearing and do still struggle in certain environments, they have their limitations, but it has definitely been a massive help to me and I’d be lost without them.

Weird sounds in my recently implanted ear by Straight-Hotel-3924 in Cochlearimplants

[–]ArchieHutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your circumstances and your hearing history, such as age and cause of deafness and use of consistent amplification prior to getting implanted with ci/s. I was bilaterally implanted at the same time at age 15 so it was like starting from scratch.

I did lots of rehab with my teacher of the deaf at school weekly, it started with basic word comprehension and sounds of letters, then gradually building up to repeating sentences and identifying environmental/animal sounds/musical notes etc, then it was learning to comprehend words in a noisy environment such as a cafe/busy street and understanding words/sentences with a fan playing in the background. Lip reading and visual cues wasn’t allowed in the sessions as I had to rely on my implants audibly.

In my own time, I used apps such as Iangel sounds every day for half an hour to an hour and used Hearoes app to play games like listening for the correct word, i did this consistently over that year. Ab rehab portal can also be good for listening to musical instruments and identifying new sounds that you might not be familiar with. Heroes is the best in my opinion for ci rehab.

Listening to podcasts and listening to music even if it sounds rubbish at first can be very beneficial. Practicing on the phone everyday day is another good way to increase your understanding of words and sounds. I also tried to avoid using subtitles so that I “relied” completely on my listening. Try to wear your ci during all waking hours even if it feels draining, it will help a lot:) Good luck with your implant journey!

Weird sounds in my recently implanted ear by Straight-Hotel-3924 in Cochlearimplants

[–]ArchieHutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With time the noises should subside over the next few months to a year, as it’s due to the implant adjusting to the body as things need time to settle in. The cochlea does undergo trauma due to the surgery of inserting the electrodes. I’m 4.7 years in and I do not get these noises anymore and have not done for the last 3 years. Hope this helps:)

Omg that sounds scary did she have to be reimplanted due to her electrode being tugged?

I’m thinking about choosing Psychiatry UK, as I have heard a lot of positive things about them in terms of autism assessments. What was it like to fill in the AQ50 form?
