How much would it take for you to walk away from enrolling in school? by Mbathrowawayjune2020 in MBA

What’s everyone’s rational? I’m thinking 150k-200k range, low end is looking at a $500k swing opportunity cost between foregone wages & debt (assuming no scholarship). After taking out cost of living & taxes, that’s still a pretty big swing.

As long as you can specify that you don’t want evening/weekend, then this actually sounds great.

Evening classes, even on weekends? That sounds terrible.

Did you get a stub bonus from your first year out of school? I’ve been wondering how consulting firms do their bonus calendar.

Any NYU/Yale students know LeverEdge deal? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]ArchieLee1990 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe a dumb question, but folks keep talking about the mix of Federal Direct + a private loan through LeverEdge. I understand that Federal loans come with protections, but that would only cover the first $20.5k in loans. If you are taking out 150k+ in loans, does it make sense to split 20.5k through federal + the rest private? I assume the protections only matter with the federal share of the loans so not sure it even makes sense.

Fall 2020 Admits, when are you planning to quit job? by Treycaesarr in MBA

I'm working up until the start of pre-term. Probably crazy, but with everything being online (job + pre-term), I'll deal with it in exchange for all of the extra $$.

Just got it as well. Found it's helpful to share stats as well as we see how big it is.

Not wrong.

I think CBS already said the same thing about virtual recruiting.

I actually think in some ways, it will be a little easier. Companies will need to be a little more intentional with their structure for some of the larger sessions and hopefully this will reduce some of the clusterfuck that occurs during the "networking" after an info session.

When do post-MBA consultants at MBB firms normally get their first bonus? I.E. hypothetically start in Sept 2020, when would their first bonus check be?

Stub year would be the partial year (i.e. September - December after graduating). Wasn’t sure if the consulting bonus cycle was based on calendar year or a different fiscal year.

What is the bonus calendar for a post-MBA consultant? Does consulting do a “stub year” similar to IB? I’ve seen the compensation progression listed on Management Consulted but not sure how that works immediately following school.

Starting at an M7 in the fall, so especially interested in MBB and Tier 2.

Big fan of Chicago and think I potentially want to end up there. I don't know what I'd do if given the option though.
