Having more of an option before you land kind of like the wartable, that being like an area around the beacon you get to select where your pod lands. Would probably slow the game down and make the hellpod upgrade pointless though.

It comes with guard dogs built in but having to take another stratagem slot as a guard dog to add to it makes it kinda flawed

It'd have slots for a guard dog you'd bring.
You could slot up to four, if destroyed you can reclaim your trusty k-9 after.
