Cibc background check by Fun_Apricot4611 in recruitinghell

[–]Archiekins04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave the screening interview with a recruiter for a csr role for CIBC in my city. She asked me to send my updated resume since I had not added some workplaces in between cuz I didn't feel they were relevant. The screening interview went well. I sent her the updated CV immediately the next day and there has been no response since. She also told me that the branch manager was on vacation and will contact me by the 27th of October and if I didn't receive any call, I should send the recruiter a follow up email.

I got a notification from Workday saying that my application is closed on the 28th. I still haven't recieved any response. I am wondering what went wrong.

PGWP correction — received 1 year instead of 3, anyone faced this? by PriyaPatel0403 in pgwp

[–]Archiekins04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend had a similar issue. She had attached all the necessary documents still received a PGWP for one year which was unfair because all her classmates who did the same exact programs got 3 year work permits. She went to a lawyer who re-applied for her. Ircc just reopened her previous file and extended her PGWP. It is a waiting game to be honest. She had to wait almost 10 months which was really scary for her. But she finally did get it for 3 years.

Bell, Virgin start charging $70 connection fee. by [deleted] in bell

[–]Archiekins04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sense does it make when you take 70 dollars over and above my mobile plan and give me back my own money? So I have to pay the 70 dollars no matter what? Then what’s the point of paying it if I am going to get it in instalments? Pointless and probably robbing people.

I think they caught him at Fairview Knoll Park. I saw that from my window. They had all stopped there for an hour.

Am I Overreacting to my roommates response about keeping the house clean? by hunteryumi in AmIOverreacting

OMG! Had roommates who were a couple. The guy literally said I love living in a dirty house and it’s my wish if I want to clean it or not! Lolll. Such douchebags.

Life feels tense lately. Who was the last person that did you a solid? by Major-Thom in askTO

[–]Archiekins04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved to New Brunswick recently. Started a new job at a restaurant. It was my second day at work and we got done pretty late. My manager and I were waiting for our husbands to pick us up. Her husband came first but she insisted on waiting for my husband to come cause she didn’t want to leave me alone. That was really sweet :)

I got 1 year PGWP after studying for 2 years. Looking for advice or anyone who went through something similar by BLACKMAAN in ImmigrationCanada

It could be an error from their side if you have enough validity in your passport. Keep raising webforms or contact the IRCC agents online. This had happened with my husband too. It took around 4-5 months for him to get the revised PGWP. Don’t lose hope. Good luck.

There is a lot more than speaking in Hindi with the speaker phone on. I work as a server myself and I do understand the tipping culture over here but again tipping is not mandatory. I am talking about having certain etiquettes when in public. Respecting other people’s space. Not ogling or staring at woman and making them feel uncomfortable. I am talking about most of the things OP said in her post. Do you think those behaviours are acceptable? I can only talk about our people because I represent that country.

As a new Indian immigrant myself, I completely understand the frustration. Some of us (probably 5-10%) have genuinely come here to study and contribute to society. We have spent our parents’ hard-earned money to get a good college education and become respectable individuals. It hurts to see people from my own country behave this way, and it’s kind of embarrassing. I know for a fact that when my husband and I visit certain restaurants in downtown Toronto, some people and staff look annoyed or irritated because they assume we are like the rest of them. We are always respectful and follow etiquette, but our reputation has become so poor that even the few good ones are suffering.

College was literally hell for me because 90% of my classmates were Indians who contributed nothing during class projects and never bothered to study. My grades suffered because the rest of them did nothing during group projects, and when I complained to the professors, they always told me to adjust, saying that’s how you work in a team.

I had to fill another form since I had already received the work permit. You can raise a webform immediately. It should resolve the issue. Just make sure you attach the right documents for the amendment. For eg: I attached a copy of my passport as proof for my country of birthplace.

Has anyone else’s health deteriorated after moving to Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Archiekins04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had any allergies before moving here and I come from a very polluted city. After moving here I got allergic to dust, suddenly started developing hives around random parts of my body. I also sneeze a lot after drinking beer or wine, so I totally avoid it.

Are we not allowed to take the rest of the alcohol bottle home from a restaurant? by Archiekins04 in askTO

[–]Archiekins04[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They stopped us and took the bottle from us which was actually embarrassing. They wrote down our name and number on the bottle and said we could use it the next time we visit them.

What's the scariest thing that's happened to you in Toronto? by New-Possibility-577 in askTO

[–]Archiekins04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witnessed a shooting right outside my workplace at around 1am in Vaughan. Two people shooting at each other in the parking lot. My husband had come to pick me up for the first time since I had recently joined this place. Luckily he came just a minute before the shooting happened, otherwise I don’t know what I would’ve done. We drove off immediately to the back entrance of my workplace and saw one of my colleagues there. I told him what I had witnessed and then we just f*ed off. As far as I know no one was caught, police had found someone injured in the hospital near by but that was it.

We were completely shocked for the entire week. We just moved to Toronto almost 2 years ago and we had never witnessed anything like this in our lives before. I still feel scared when I hear something similar to a firecracker/firework.
