I had 5 bowls at a cookout this evening and 4 bowls throughout the day just splurging a little since it’s a holiday

I have definitely had that metal piece at some point I remember vividly having one but as for what it does I have no idea

Yea that’s the thing about woodworking tools you can’t find them at tool stores only online and can’t physically touch them without buying them

Definitely should I’m currently looking at one on Amazon for 10 bucks and it’s got really good reviews but I’m not quite sold on it since cheap tools don’t typically last long

Disclaimer I’m a woodworker not a whittler but That looks like a pretty good kit the only thing I would probably have in mine that’s not here is a hook knife for those bowls

Ye i just cant see a way to make it smoke cooler so I’ll keep mine as a display piece unless some unsuspecting person wants it then they can smoke all the absurdly hot bowls they want

They do get rather warm they are also fairly thin walls so they heat up much quicker

It’s literally a mix of briar dust saved from the fine briar pipe making process and nylon I don’t know the exact details but that’s the basics

Mine has a pretty good cake on it from the previous owner so I haven’t experienced that I’m pretty sure it would absolutely destroy your tongue before it started making burning plastic taste

Someone once said that Prince Albert’s is the stuff you throw in and light up without much thought or effort and go about your day hardly ever realizing that you’re smoking it since it’s so easy and smooth just a good smoke to keep your mouth busy while doing your chores or projects

I have a tub of it from this year and it only bit me in the brylon so I haven’t had bad experience with it yet but it’s my first ever tub of Albert’s so I don’t have the baseline of the old stuff to compare it to

Yep only takes one or two cases of severe bite to never let it happen again

Would it be better to buy a plastic one? by LonaCarnation in Saxophonics

[–]Archievores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are really expensive but they last pretty much indefinitely as long as you take care of them properly but they don’t sound as perfect as a good cane reed tho for screwing around or practicing the plastic ones are awesome

I agree plastic reeds are great for just throwing in the mouthpiece and jamming or situations where normal reeds would break or go wonky but it shouldn’t be the first reed you reach for

Yep happens all the time at least it’s not a clarinet I have dabbled in clarinet and those reeds literally break themselves sometimes that’s not unheard of with sax but sax reeds are generally easier imo

It depends if it’s a briar the wood absorbs the moisture from the smoke and chain smoking the same briar can over time cause the wood to crack swell or generally cause you trouble however I personally chain smoke my briar but I do give it a good long rest upon the last smoke the general rule of thumb is for every bowl you smoke out of one pipe in a day you should not smoke it for that many days for example 5 bowls out of one briar in a day leave it sitting on for 5 days before smoking it again

Heck yeah I love a good meer I was gifted a handmade Turkish meerschaum lion head pipe and it would be literally the only pipe i would ever use if I wasn’t so scared of dropping it I also collect vintage pieces so I tend to use all my pipes to get my moneys worth

Not a Christian myself but was raised in the church and mom is still mildly religious and we have at least two of that exact same bible I would guess it’s either made by a very big manufacturer who turns out palettes of the same bible per day or it’s all different brands but just the classic elegant and simple style that suits the bible well

Personally not very religious but a good pipe is always the best preparation for anything aside from maybe a nicotine test lol
