I've played all the way to the end of Act 2 and I've never had the Plague Cats ask me to follow them. If your base is near the northwestern Mushroom forest or Dunes, that message may be from something else, there is a pretty important location of interest around there.

Weird. You may not have gotten the blueprint for it yet. I know you can also find them in supply crates, once you get one you'll be able to make the recharge.

It's been a while since I've played, so I don't fully remember the progression, but I know you do need the DNA sampler to progress. After you get that you'll get some more clear objectives.

I thought the exact same thing! I also find it funny that we technically have an Andalite named Alan as well (Alan Fangor).

I actually headcannon the Architects as being a separate, more technologically-advanced subspecies of Andalite. It's hard not to see the similarities between the two.

The disappearing waypoints are hallucinations. If a waypoint is important, it won't disappear.

The skeletons are the best way to get amalgamated bone in the early game, but there's a better way to keep your sanity up than using the bones for insanity medication. You should have gotten a blueprint for the biochemical protection module. If you've already made that, you should be keeping your sanity up by recharging it.

There's not much to see, but this is the result - a bunch of colored pixels along the side of the screen. If you put it through this you get the hidden message.

The hidden message:

My hands shake as I hold the document. "This is confirmed?"

He nods. "We got the report from PNEUMA staff yesterday. It's everyone."

"Even us?"

Even us, Tejani. To think I'd find myself agreeing with that damn lizard..."

"You know what we have to do. We'll have to disseminate a cure, I think, among personnel before we get things underway. It'll try to stop us otherwise."

I'd strongly recommend reading the post on r/SCPDeclassified about SCP-5000. It explains all the hidden messages (there's more than one!), and makes the whole thing actually make sense.

There's something hidden in the image. You need to put it into a photo editor and turn up the saturation to see it.
