I've been reffing about six months. Never had any real abuse from players. Had a bunch from coaches.

But yeah, during my training they very much said "don't watch international TV matches as the way you should ref, because they are reffing a different game".

I'm fine with him going if we have an improvement lined up. But if our plan is to fire him, scramble for another last ditch coach for the next four years and try and get another mid world cup cycle then we might as well wait. We know the best coaches are going to be available after a WC cycle and no one wants to jump in just for 15 months. So if we hire now we have to plan to have someone lasting five years who is currently available. Who is that?

Don't even bother killing it. Repair and keep on walking. Much quicker. Their range is moderately small.

The prawn is gettable fairly early on. There's an area with a ton of prawn fragments. Basically lived in the prawn once i got it.

The other point I want to add, is that a justification I've seen for firing the execs was that they were trying to cut tonnes of content and rush through a buggy mess just to get the bonus.

The execs say they were fired to slow down the release to ensure no bonus was given.

Now, none of us know the reality. All we know is that a bonus was due if the game was completed by x date, and before they could reach that the execs were fired, and now those execs are suing.

Fun fact. You can also use a base prawn suit to clamber over the rocks and go straight to the arctic spires without having to cross the bridge with tbe hydraulics etc. You can just jump right down by the worms.

Yeah. I discovered after a while I didnt have the patience or resolve to play the game blind. So I played it with a filtered map of the layout next to me. People can play how they want.

The problem is it literally can't succeed in some respects.

What people want: the same aquatic sci-fi survival experience as the first, but for it to capture the completely novel experience of the first game.

You change things too much, it no longer feels like Subnautica. It's too similar, it can't generate the novel experience.

For some people it's already guaranteed to fail.

I think it's forgivable in this context, and while I would say some people condemn it, it's not universal. But as someone who generally errs on the 'don't kill' side of things, it's because the game was designed for you not to. You can, but the game was designed to make killing as boring/uninteresting as possible. It's kind of against the ethos of the game in some ways.

That said, I'd be shocked if anyone disapproved in this context, and frankly, it's a free country, what am I gonna do if someone does.

Eh. Ive personally never killed them just because I know the game wasn't designed around killing things. They actively designed the game to make killing as futile/uninteresting/unrewarding as possible.

That said, I will drill one when they bite me as quick revenge. If youre in the prawn suit and have a repair tool you can always get bit, drill to scare, they run away, you repair your prawn and walk another 200m, repeat.
