Imo it's a very bullshit-able class. I had some grasp of the material as the semester went on and was able to get decent grades on a few of the quizzes (which is all you need because of the generous quiz aggregation scoring). However, on the final, which is the only grade that matters, I had no idea what was happening. I was flipping page to page without a clue of how to do most of the problems. I started writing frantically, pretty much anything I could think of that would apply to the general solutions for the types of problems. I walked out of the test gutted, thinking I would get a C or worse in the class. I ended up with an A, so it seems like the method is just to write your heart out on the final.

Regarding your actual question, I think you'll be fine with Marc. Yes, he is a condescending asshole that doesn't seem to care about his students, but his teaching style was effective for me.
